Everything is just awesome. My only gripe is Monument Park dosen't look like a park full of monuments anymore, it's starting to look like the Yankee Mausoleum.
Danny I completely agree about monument park. It looks a little smaller too. And I know this is a feature of all new ballparks but I'll miss walking through the tunnel and seeing the field. Now it's all open so as soon as you walk in the field is in front of you. Yes, I'm being a little nostalgic.
I wanna cry it looks so nice....can't wait to go to a game no matter what the tickets cost.
Nice. still the only things that bother me are the obstructed bleachers, and the upper deck not being steep anymore. to me the upper deck was the best seats in the whole stadium, so intimidating. whatever we can't do anything about it anyway
What's with the creepy mannequin dressed in a suit?
Does no one else think that the outfield looks very boring and incomplete. Obviously it's not yet in opening day form (some more ads to go up), but I feel like the rest of the seating bowl with the frieze looks amazing and then the outfield lacks a certain something to make it a more complete/defining stadium. To me it just looks like a very gray area with a huge video screen and some ads. Monument park is very much hidden, and is there even going to be a flagpole anywhere? I hope when opening day comes, a lot of my criticisms will have been taken care of, but we'll see...
Fantastic.
Just an FYI the new Monument Park is actually larger
What's the deal with those poles down the lines? They look like flag poles. I hope they're not going to put netting up...
The outfield area is going to look amazing when it's packed with fans, so it doesn't really matter to me that it looks gray and dull now.
the "flag poles" are for BP they are protective nets. Another thing i was thinking is that they should put the division standings flags above the right side of the outfield, above the metlife.com banner. similar to in the old stadium
The pics look good. Not sure how I will really feel about it until April 3rd, and I will probably be shitfaced by the 3rd inning and not know where I am anyway so it won't matter. What is the deal with the seats above the restaurant in Centerfield?
Yeah I too was curious about those seats on top of the centerfield restaraunt. They were not listed on the yankke stadium seat selector. Anybody got any info on those seats?
so far the thing i dont like, the backstop, behind home plate, boring, why not some gray or blue marble, all the other new ballparks have stone, brick, we have boring blue padding...
those seats above the restaurant should be given to randomly selected people in the obstructed bleacher sections each game. but that would never happen... the seats do look kind of cool though
Greg, as always, thanks for the pictures. The last two updates were amazing.
I'm still waiting to see if the plagues are visable from the batter's box. I wish someone would take a picture from field level behind the plate. I'm interested to see if the batter's eye is compromized by the monuments, the plagues, or even a reflection off the glass.
As for monument park, you can see from the first few pictures that it is not the showcase from the lower level 9where the majority of seats are now located) that you would wish for a ball club so rich in history. It would have been so easy to place it to the left of the restaurant, in the obstructed view seating area (multi levels). The right side of the restaurant could have been the visitor bull pen (avoiding the obstructed seats on that side). The current visitor bull pen area could have been bleacher seats right up against the fence. But I've been saying this here for years now.
The seats located above the restuarant are to be sold as special party/events seating. They are not listed in any of the season packages. Will probably go for big money. The Yankees are great that way, find a way to get you to pay top dollar for a seat out in centerfield (otherwise known as the bleachers in the original stadium).
Ever notice that the "YANKEE" sign above the score board is "washed out" in pictures from the upper levels when the buildings are visable. You can see the sign clearly when set against the blue sky, but when the buildings are behind it, not so clear. Good thing there are many night games.
As for the bland outfield area and scoreboard - I completely agree that the area should be given some "character".
I now feel better having seen these photos.
Mike
