By the way, I know Cashman is partially to blame for not having A-Rod treat this injury at the end of last season, but that's another issue. This is just about resigning him for ten years.

LOL yeah for once it did turn out Cashman was right. But if they didn't resign A-Rod who would be playing third, its not like Cashman great farm system has an up and coming third baseman.

Cashman has made plenty of mistakes wasting the Steinbrenner's money on Pavano, Wright,Igawa etc etc. Despite all of A-Rod's nonsense he is still the best cleanup hitter in baseball. Brian is an average GM.

I'm not sure who'd be playing third if they didn't sign him. I forget who was a free agent that year. They also could have made a trade along the way.

And yes, Cashman has made his share of mistakes. One of them being not handling this hip situation this past offseason. But as far as those signings that you mentioned go; everyone wanted Pavano including the Red Sox, from what I've read George Steinbrenner was the one who pushed Cash to sign Wright. Igawa, yea I'll blame Cashman completely for that.

Believe me, I'm not using this to try to say he's a great GM or anything. He is average. I just thought it would be a funny picture, that's all.

Another thing is that Hank could be telling Cashman that I told you we should of traded for Johan Santana.

Melky is a 4th outfielder and Kennedy looks horrible.

I don't agree. We won't know how smart that move was or wasn't for a few years.

Remember, Cash didn't make that trade knowing what the free agent market would be this past offseason. His goal was to get CC and keep the other three instead of just having Johan.

In my opinion CC, Hughes, Kennedy, and Melky > Johan. And no, I don't think there was any chance they would have signed CC if the signed Johan last year.

Hahahaha, nicely done.

@ Greg I dont think they would of had to trade Hughes. They could of traded Kennedy, Caberra, Tabata and another prospect. I think there were two different deals that twins would of agreed to, and one didn't include Hughes. That would of been a steal looking back at it.

Thanks Larry.

Anon,

The only thing I've heard was the that if Hughes wasn't in the deal they would have had to include Wang or Cano.

If they could have gotten Santana for Kennedy, Cabrera and Tabata, I have to believe the deal would have been done.
