4/11 Minor League Report

We are lucky enough to have a SWB report from BigGuy tonight.
He won't be doing these all the time by when he does I will

(AAA) Scranton-Wilkes Barre (3-0) beat Lehigh Valley 12-5: Box Score - Recap

The SWB AAA Yankees defeated the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs (Phillies) by a 12-5 score for their 3rd straight win to start the season.

PITCHING: Alfredo Aceves made his first start of the 09 season. He gave up a solo run in the 2nd on a double and single cutting the SWB lead to 3-1. Lehigh Valley took a 5-3 lead in the 4th inning, picking up 4 runs, highlighted by a 3-run homer by Rich Thompson. Aceves was relieved by Kroenke after 4 innings. Aceves' line: 4.0 IP, 5 R, 7 H, 3 K's---2 walks, 80 P--61 strikes.

BULLPEN: Zack Kroenke threw a perfect 5th inning, and a scoreless 6th inning allowing just a double.

Anthony Claggett pitched the final 3 scoreless innings, allowing 3 singles and picking up 5 strikeouts.

OFFENSE: The Yanks broke out on top 3-0 quickly in the 1st inning when John Rodriquez singled, Todd Linden walked, and Juan Miranda hit a 3-run homer (2). The Yanks tied the game at 5, picking up 2 runs in the 5th inning, after loading the bases on 3 singles by Rodriquez, Linden and Justin Leone. Miranda forced in a run with a walk, and Austin Jackson followed with a sac fly to score another.

The Yanks broke the tie in the 6th inning scoring 3 runs. After 2 out Kevin Russo walked, stole 2nd and scored on a Rodriquez RBI single. Linden followed with a 2-run homer to give SWB a 8-5 lead. The Yanks added 2 more runs in the 7th when Miranda and Jackson singled and Kevin Cash drove them in with a 2-run single to make the score SWB 10-5. SWB added the final 2 runs after 2 out in the 8th inning. Leone singled, Miranda walked, and Austin Jackson hit a 2-run triple to make it SWB 12-5.

Juan Miranda continues his hot hitting with 4 more RBI, 9 in 3 games, with a 3-run homer and single.

Austin Jackson had 3 RBI on a triple, 2 singles, and a sac fly.

John Rodriquez had an RBI and 4 singles.

Todd Linden had a 2-run homer and single.

Kevin Cash had 2 RBI and 2 singles. Justin Leone 2 singles.

Kevin Russo, Eric Duncan, and Angel Berroa each added a single.

NOTES: Phil Hughes makes his first start of the year Sunday in the finale of the 4 game set at Lehigh Valley. The SWB bullpen so far in 3 games has pitched 14.1 scoreless innings with 15 K's and only 1 walk. SWB scored it's final 7 runs of the game after 2 men were out.

SWB is very good, they're loaded with talent.

They remind me of the 98 team, but in mionor league form.

In the sense that they are very deep, and everyone on the roster is pretty good (for AAA) you're right.
