Teixeira still out and Cabrera in the lineup against Kazmir. Looks like it's gonna be tough.

At least Matsui has been droped to the 7th spot.

Teixeira and A-Rod really need to come back.

Will somebody be at the opener on thursday?

Anonymous said...

teixeira will be back soon, arod will probably be 3 more weeks.. he'll appear in ST games in about 7-10 days and then from there it will be about 2 weeks

Anonymous said...

plus teixeira's problem is batting against lefties bc he cant swing righty, he'll have off today at least to give him 2 full days without holding or swinging a bat

Will said...

this Teixeira issue is getting annoying.

I added to the pile-on about Ransom and Pena in the older thread. I think the Yankees are blowing a big opportunity to test Pena.

Greg Cohen said...

I agree Will.

Anonymous said...

tex is getting annoying im tired of hearing "tomorrow, tomorrow.." wats the deal we just blew a load of 180mill on him and his wrist is "bothering him" come on players play though stupid little stuff like that nowadays these players are babies...

Truth is tex is probably crying to a therapist about all the boos he was getting in Baltimore ..

Sorry I like tex and he reminds me of tino at first base (defensively and a bigger bat, but also how he just carries himself at the position) but this is unreal, no structural damage then get back out there

Brian Danuff said...

Anon,

Well, Teix's wrist may be good, but Swish is red-hot right now. If you put Teix in and Swish out and if Teix hoes 0-4 everybody would be saying "why didn't you give Teix one more day?". He'll be back tomorrow so no one should be worried.

Greg Cohen said...

Anon,

Are you serious? Don't you think the Yankees have something to do with this? They probably want to play it safe with him too.

He'll be in the lineup tomorrow. And I wouldn't be surprised if he pinch-hits today.

JCBauer24 said...

Anon, I really hope you're kidding or just talking out of frustration. It's fans like you that drive me nuts.

You think he doesn't want to be playing? The Yankees know how important he is to the team. They aren't going to risk playing him in April and risk losing him for an extended period of time. give him a few days off and let the wrist heal. There's no point in risking a major chunk of his season in April.

Greg Cohen said...

Dear Chien-Ming Wang,

Keep the ball down!

Greg

Anonymous said...

Wang looks like shit again.

Greg Cohen said...

Yep he does.

dan said...

i already chalked this one up as a loss

Greg Cohen said...

I'm getting close myself Dan.

dan said...

this is painful to watch

Greg Cohen said...

and closer...

dan said...

he's lucky he's got these 2 outs .. Longoria just missed acouple balls

Greg Cohen said...

True. Wow I can't believe that horror show is over. It would be nice if we had a long reliever because I don't want to see Wang pitch to another batter.

dan said...

why must we always suck ass in April? I cant stand getting off to bad starts

daneptizl said...

I think I'm going to watch the Mets. They have a new field.

Greg Cohen said...

Hahahaha, no you can't watch the Mets.

dan said...

We should have Tomko on the roster... but we dont

dan said...

Mets are losing :)

Greg Cohen said...

It makes no sense whatsoever to not have a long man.

dan said...

fuck u Upton

Anonymous said...

Is Michael Kay a Rays broadcaster? Can he calm the fuck down?

dan said...

i know, it sounded like he jizzed in his pants

Greg Cohen said...

Kay is a moron.

Will said...

oooh shit, wha happen?

Greg Cohen said...

Wang has nothing again. And now he's about to turn a 4-0 game into an 8-0 game.

dan said...

tmro could be tough with Garza.. but I have alot of faith w/ AJ pitching, I think he'll come up big and stop the losing streak.. and then Thursday's game looks winable, vs Sonnanstine. So we can still win the series and go home and get rolling

Greg Cohen said...

This is embarrassing.

dan said...

1 more shit performance from Wang and Id seriously consider bringing someone up

Greg Cohen said...

What would you do with Wang?

dan said...

i hope we dont lose by 15+ runs.. its looking possible tho

dan said...

put him at AAA for a start or however long it takes to get him fixed.

daneptizl said...

Jays tank. Wang + for Halladay. Do it. If only....

dan said...

thats what I just started thinking daneptizl.. but the Jays would prob ask for Hughes and/or Jackson

Greg Cohen said...

hahaha good luck with that one Dane.

dan said...

jesus christ

JCBauer24 said...

I turned the game off when I saw Wang wasn't getting the sinker down. And if Wang starts off badly, he stays that way. He never corrects himself during a game.

I'm watching the Mets lose in the new Citi Field.

And I don't mind not having a long man. You don't expect needing a long man with our rotation. No one was planning on Wang sucking ass like this.

daneptizl said...

Damn for real... that much...

Will said...

wow - didnt make it out of the second inning. well, that's a problem. wonder what's up with Wang - can't see, no YES.

dan said...

they may score 20+ runs this game

Greg Cohen said...

His pitches look flat, and he's having command issues. ... and it's 9-0 now. UGLY.

Greg Cohen said...

Nice game Wang: 1 IP, 6 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 3 BB, 1 K (28.93 ERA).

AWESOME!

daneptizl said...

LMAO. I change the channel for a couple minutes and it turns to 9-0.

Will said...

listening to Burnett talk about his former injury stuff this spring he sounded like a very mature player, he has a really good head. I think he's going to exceed expectations and be the real backbone of the rotation.

dan said...

I cant remember a Yankee having a worse game... who started the 22-0 loss vs the Indians?

Greg Cohen said...

Nice play Cody.

I hope you're right Will.

dan said...

Will, I completely agree.. he could win 20 this year

Will said...

this bullpen has issues. Yankees were close in Baltimore 5-6, but pen let it turn into a blow out. That was Coke's work, who couldn't keep balls in the park last night either.

dan said...

next game have Molina catch and see if that can make any difference... u never know

Greg Cohen said...

Vazquez started the 22-0 game.

Greg Cohen said...

I agree completely Dan.

By the way, I don't know if you guys know this, but this is all A-Rod's fault.

dan said...

thanks Greg... hes long gone now

Bentton said...

guys, sorry i haven't been around in a while, i've been busy. i see the score of the game, and i'm not pleased at all. i know it's still madd early in the season, but i neve imagined wang to be pitching the way he is. smh!

on a high note, i have no idea how, but i might be getting the YES Network down here in maryland.

Anonymous said...

Boy those Yankees are good eh? Different team than last year right? WRONG. Same garbage, same team. A bunch of overpaid, overhyped, OLD bums. Great job Cashman and Girardi. And, Girardi how's that decision about no long reliever working out for you? What did you do to make our team younger Cashman? Oh that's right nothing. Silly me.

dan said...

lol Arod!!!

Anonymous said...

and this is why they should have kept tomko instead of albaledejo.

Greg Cohen said...

Hey Bentton,

Yea I'm pissed off too. Wang needs to get his act together soon.

That's cool about YES, too bad that means you have to hear Michael Kay call games, though.

Will said...

How was Wang's velocity? Control hopefully is just a mechanical issue.

/me crosses fingers.

Where's Hitler? Fucker must be dancing on skates.

Anonymous said...

And, Cabrera gets rewarded for his rally killing GIDP yesterday. That's how it works with Girardi. Girardi the Genius. Hopefully, he's gone ASAP.

What a pathetic team. They can't beat anyone with a decent pitcher going. They can't even beat the Royals, who can't score runs, when they were up and should have won. Mo? Useless. He can't pitch in this situation, he can't pitch in that situation. Hey Cashman, that's what you get for relying on old has-beens and over-the-hill men.

Will said...

mlb gamecast reported:
"Navarro singles on a pop up to third baseman Cody Ransom."

wat?

Bentton said...

yeah, i know i gotta listen to michael kay, but i don't mind it. i'm just happy to be getting the channel down here. i think there fixin' it up, so i can't watch the game, i gotta get highlights off the mlb network. so i'm watching that and the mets game back and forth.

anon: give the yanks some time. don't just think were gonna be perfect outta the gates. every team has their flaws that they need to fix up. it's only april. wait till the end of may, early june and see where we are at to complain.......... all we need is time

Unknown said...

What is going on with wang? This is not the Chien-Ming Wang I've seen in the past. I hope this is his last time he is like this.

Greg Cohen said...

His mechanics are completely screwed up. I don't think he forgot how to pitch.

rajasthanexpress said...

I'm watching it on gamecast. But the anemic offense is even harder to watch than Wang having a really bad start. I know its Kazmir and all but it seems like he's really shutting them down.

Anonymous said...

No offense but, you are like the idiotic evolutionists (they're called "scientists" today), just add TIME to anything and voila a monkey turns into a man. 3 trillion years and we believe nothing turned into everything. This is what they call "science", normal people call it a religion.

The Yankees blow. We dont need to wait to May. It is the EXACT same team as last year EXCEPT they didn't "evolve" and get better accidentally and naturally, they got OLDER and fell apart (via entropy) like everything on the face of the planet.

Anonymous said...

mercy rule!!! please throw in the towel. make it stop!!! forfeit and save the bullpen.

Will said...

Im watching the highlight - Wang was just leaving crap up in the wheelhouse huh. bleeehhh.

I'd like to comment about Tampa here for a second, this team plays in a damn parking garage. This team should move, and it should move to Mexico City. Tampa market sucks and they're not going to get a new ball park for years considering the depression the lovelies are putting us in. Mexico City - cheap labor for a cheap new ball park and MLB officially goes completely North American. Would be a huge win for both MLB and especially the Rays business.

Bentton said...

do you think phil coke should be a starter? i know this was probably debated during spring training, but i was just wondering, just in case there is something wrong with wang? (which i think there's nothing wrong)

Will said...

WHAT THE?! I type up 2 comments and the Rays get another run? what happen to the TOP of the 3rd? Jeeeezus.

Greg Cohen said...

rajasthanexpress,

He's really handling them. Nady was the only guy who has hit a ball hard off him.

Anon,

Are you saying you don't believe in evolution?

Greg Cohen said...

Possibly Bentton, but if there is something wrong with Wang I'd rather they called up Hughes. With that said, I think it's just mechanical issues. His velocity was fine.

Will said...

"do you think phil coke should be a starter?"

LOL. So we can end games even sooner?

Bentton said...

i meant to put hughes, not coke lol. hopefully he can get those issues straight, cause we definately need his arm in the rotation. when is his next scheduled start?

Anonymous said...

Well I knew Hughes would be coming up eventually this season, just never though it would be to replace Wang. 28.93 ERA. WOW.

Greg Cohen said...

YAY WE SCORED A RUN!

But seriously, Swisher is mashing the ball.

dan said...

START THE COMEBACK!!! Nah Im just kidding, the games over.. at least we scored a run

Anonymous said...

Good job by Melky get your first hit when the team is down 10. If this was a 0-0 game Melky would of grounded out.

rajasthanexpress said...

At lease Swish is still firing on all cylinders.

Will said...

Swisher is on fire! Fucking Tex needs to get back in this lineup. And Cabrera and Ransom need to be benched - they have no business being the starters.

Bentton said...

swisher is doin' his thing! i give him madd props. the yanks did good on getting him. when the season started, and i had the free mlb extra innings package for a week, he was nasty out there! i hope he can keep it up!

cause he's too swishersweet! lmfao
(i know dat made no sense at all lol)

Anonymous said...

Will they ever get off to a good start? WANG SHOULD NOT BE THE 2 STARTER!

Greg Cohen said...

Well, they can still get off to a good start.

dan said...

fuck, David Wright tied the game

Anonymous said...

Haha can't believe the Mets still have that plastic apple popping up for homeruns. What a joke of a franchise.

Greg Cohen said...

How many guys were on base?

Great job Cody... ugh.

Will said...

the more I think about the Ransom thing the more it annoys me. This game is over, yank Ransom and put the kid in and get him some damn playing time, see if he's going to be major league or not.

dan said...

3 run homer for Wright

Greg Cohen said...

Couldn't agree more Will.

Bentton said...

lmao........

well personally, the rotation should be like this:

1) sabathia
2) burnett
3) petitte
4) wang
5) hughes (put chamberlain in the pen)

i think we'd have a better shot to win more games with that lineup

and with a-rod coming back, and teixiera being healthy, we'd do pretty good!

JCBauer24 said...

Anon, you need to chill the hell out. We can't beat the Royals? We won two of three! And Cabrera is playing because Kazmir is a lefty so it wouldn't make sense to have Gardner play.

And you're saying the team's pathetic seven games into the season? Give me a break. You need to chill out and get a clue. Seriously...

Will said...

The Mets franchise is a joke, well said Anon. The stupid apple is a perfect symbol for their complete lack of marketing judgement. That they continue to center their entire marketing around the stupid Brooklyn Dodgers is pathetic. A giant 42 in their front door. How stupid, Robinson didn't even play for them. Anyone who saw Robinson play is almost dead. Way to build on the memories of your fan base. Mr.Met, the Apple, stupid budget Ebbets field look alike, and the Mets logo, -- they look like a damn AA club, not a part of NY f'n City.

Greg Cohen said...

hahahahaha, so Will, what you're saying is you don't like the Mets.

Greg Cohen said...

I know it's 10-1, but this could be a pretty important at-bat for Ransom. Unless he walks, he has to get that runner in. Show the Yanks that he can do something - anything.

Anonymous said...

i think ransom needs to be removed immediately, he doesnt just look bad he looks over matched; and he isnt young so this is simply what he is. Pena can atleast play a better third base and bring some speed to the table.
As for coke, i would look for girardi to get him some innings in this blowout. If he falls on his face again, he needs to be sent down.
No point in wasting time and games by giving coke important innings when he clearly cant handle it. If you want to replace him , bring up melancon or robertson.
As for Wang, the yankees should really do a better job of paying atention to their million dollar investments. I mean Arod went a whole year with a serious hip injury, Pettite pitched with an injury the whole second half. If the players refuse to speak up someone needs to be paying a little closer attention , say mabey hmm the trainers. You would think it would be hard to hide such things from them, but apparently not.
This brings us to Wang who clearly was not ready to start this season.
His velocity is not where it should be and his mechanics are so out of whack, five days was clearly not enough to solve them.
Either wake up and work more closely with the guy or send him down to work it out, either way, actually do something with some sort of urgency for once. This is not 1998, you are not running away with anything.
Another thing that needs to be said is that Matsui looks absolutely pathetic. He is like father time out there and he is only batting. You have to wonder if the guy is done at this point. In which case It would make it easier to get nady and swisher and damon all in the lineup at the same time.
And Gardner brings nice speed but is a non threat with the bat. On top of that when you see him in center he looks like he is always getting a bad jump and taking shaky routes. Clearly not use to big league parks and lights. Honestly he is just not very talented. Austin Jackson is doing nicely in AAA. They could prob bring him up around the middle of next month if he continues to do well.

Anonymous said...

i'm just as annoyed as anyone that ransom is still starting after this horrendous start, but people dont realize that pena is on this team more to backup jeter than he is for ransom. in a blowout you want to save your "prize" players, not cody ransom.. plus pena was put on this team to be a late inning defensive replacement and pinch run for matsui or posada late in games.. i think we'll see him in for jeter today before we see him in for ransom

Greg Cohen said...

And of course he strikes out.

Greg Cohen said...

Did Kazmir just pump his fist in an 8-run game?

Anon,

The only way I'd see them call up Jackson is if he's hitting .400 in AAA for at least half the season.

Other Anon,

Why not start Pena and use Ransom as Jeter's late-inning replacement?

Anonymous said...

I beg to differ if they struggle into the middle of May , they will have to make changes, and it will start with bringing up jackson. Dont forget them bringing up Cano around that time of year.

Anonymous said...

and hes red hot so far, hitting over 500. Now you just watch to see if he can adjust once the pitchers learn to pitch him.

Greg Cohen said...

Cano had played 85 games in AAA when he was called up. A-Jax has played four.

I also think they're going to be patient with Brett Gardner, they like what he can bring to table. If he can't cut it, they will probably then go back to Melky.

Anonymous said...

greg, you want to have speed and a good glove on your bench so you can improve your team late in a game. you dont want ransom coming in off the bench bc he makes the team worse

Anonymous said...

greg, you want to have speed and a good glove on your bench so you can improve your team late in a game. you dont want ransom coming in off the bench bc he makes the team worse

Anonymous said...

any way you slice it jackson is the centerfielder for this team sooner or later. It is their only hope.
Gardner and Melky are bench players.
I wont be surprised if this team is in the Matt Holiday sweepstakes come July. Although you hope they dont give up hughes or jackson.

Greg Cohen said...

With A-Rod out either Pena or Ransom has to start. Wouldn't you rather the better player starting?

Anonymous said...

i think they just need to get home already and see that people are cheering them, and they'll do better. Just one thing that needs to be done

Anonymous said...

yea pena is better,
Ransom cant hit and hes shaky at third.
At least Pena has some actual talent

Will said...

bringing in Pena at this point would not wear him out for a late inning replacement of Jeter in a more important game. They should be getting him time in front of big loud crowds against high power hitters when it doesn't count, so later when it does it doesn't seem as special.

Greg Cohen said...

I agree that Jackson will be the CF in the near future, but they're not going to rush him unless they're convinced that Melky and Gardner can't do the job. I don't think Cashman and Girardi are close to being convinced of that.

Anonymous said...

One prob with that, they will be booed when they get home because in all likely hood they are going to loose two out of three here in tampa and finish 4-5 on the first road trip.
A bad first inning by CC on thursday and just watch the boos pour down on them.

Anonymous said...

who's to say pena is better? sure ransom has got off to a terrible start, but that doesnt mean that pena is better.. pena brings a better glove and much more speed, but by starting him you have to hope he can get on base and steal a base.. if you use him to pinch run you can put him in for anyone (short of gardner) late in the game to steal a base and get the tying/winning run

Anonymous said...

If they dont realize that Gardner and Melky are bench players and cant do the job everyday, then i dont know what they have been watching.

Greg Cohen said...

Anon,

They're not going to be booed for a 4-5 start.

Other Anon,

"pena brings a better glove and much more speed"

To me that makes him a better asset for this team than Ransom.

Will said...

"you dont want ransom coming in off the bench bc he makes the team worse"

so you want him in the field from the beginning of the game? wat?

Anonymous said...

lol do you not realize that Ransom cant get on base either, he is totally lost against big league pitching. at this point pena throwing his bat at the ball would be an improvement.

Anonymous said...

i guarantee even if they get swept they will not get booed, im exited and im sure everyone else is exited to see them at home for the first time this year. Why do you say they are gonna loose 2 of 3? Maybe theyll win the next two i hope

Anonymous said...

if you dont think this team wont be booed in the first inning after going 4-5 and then giving up a run in the first at the opener on thurs. then u have not been to many yankee games.

Anonymous said...

ya ive been to alot of games, but its the beginning of the season, sure there will be some boos but not in the first inning unless its a few runs, and those who boo arent fans in my opnion

Will said...

"unless they're convinced that Melky and Gardner can't do the job"

IMHO I think Gardner has played a fine CField (all 6 games were talking of course). His arm has been a descent surprise. And the Yankees don't need batting help when Tex is in the lineup, and that's without ARod. When ARod is back hitting will not be the problem. The problem is the pen, and maybe Wang, and infield defense - which all go together unfortunately. I want that infield d better - they gotta put Jeter at 2nd soon.

Greg Cohen said...

Can Anonymous posters just put a name or initial at the bottom of the posts just so I have some idea who's talking to who? Thanks.

- Greg

Anonymous said...

because wedsnday is sonnastine vs. pettite which should be won. But tomorrow is Burnett vs. Garza. In all likelyhood Garza will make a mockery out of this lineup. He tour boston up and they have all their hitters in the lineup. We dont. I dont like the odds of them scoring more than 2 runs off of him. Now you have to hope Burnett does better and goes deeper into the game. Chances are that he gives up 2 or 3 in six innings to be reasonable. Bottomline i would Garza to outpitch him facing a lineup without arod and with automatic outs in gardner and ransom. Not to mention Matsui who looks 100 years old and will prob not be able to catch up with 95 mph fastballs from Garza, which will also go for pretty much everyone else as well.
Honestly it should be a fairly close game tomorrow, but if it comes down to the bullpens and coke is out there again, i dont like our chances.
Better hope we win on Thursday with pettite, otherwise a sweep will take us home to the new stadium.

Will said...

sage this bullpen! can these guys for once not give up a hit or homerun when they walk out.

If you want to be depressed, just remeber when we embarassed Tampa like they are doing to us tonight.
Those days are long gone, now we are the embarassment.

It's one game. The Yankees were 11-7 against the Rays last year.

back to the Mets, its not really that I hate the Mets. Honestly I would love to have two awesome franchises in NYC. Back in the 50s how awesome was it with the Giants Dodgers and Yankees - you could go to any of those parks, watch any of those teams, and not feel embarrassed you were there. the Mets franchise is an embarrassment to NYC. They belong in St.Petersburg or Albany or something. How does that Rotunda (with its stupid escalators right in the middle) not have homages to great _METS_ players. Robinson? The LA Dodgers fielded Robinson, they should have the tribute to Robinson. Total joke.

Will said...

"The Yankees were 11-7 against the Rays last year."

great point. if Yankees take 11 of 7 from Rays (without screwing up any more KC games) they can win the division.

Greg Cohen said...

Will,

There were great Mets players?

Anonymous said...

cant deny that they are very talented and young and will get better.
When you look at these two teams, besides Jeter;s age at short, the most glaring difference is the outfield.
They have talent and youth out there.
We have age in left, mediocrity in right if Nady is playing, otherwise decency with Swisher. In Center they have a young star and we have a fourth outfielder and pinch runner.
Its a real problem when you compare the yankees to the Rays and Sox.
How do they fix it , well i would suggest Jackson and trading for Holliday.

The cocaine 80s were rock'n at Shea. Dwight Gooden and Daryle Strawberry were the epitome of NYC hardcore party / crack cocaine era. Celebrate it!

Like the Billy Martin, Reggie, alcoholic ego driven 70s. NYC in the 70s was dirty, drunk, and would punch you in the face, and so would the Yankees. So Awesome!

Besides all the other idiotic things Girardi and Cashman does, someone explain to me what they see in Edwar Ramirez?

Also, how is that the New York Yankees with its $200 million payroll, have the worst or some of the worst starting positions that are so crucial like SS, CF, LF and RF? How is that even possible? How the hell can you make people even remote like Cashman or this FO? It is beyond me....

Anonymous said...

They are far from the worst at SS, LF and RF. CF is arguable.

Anonymous said...

O WOW Phil COke just got an out. He's a stud again. Whew.
Nice job, hold that score at 12-3 you stepup man in the making u.

Mike said...

Hey Greg, how does it feel now that your blog is becoming more popular and you have to deal with all the Yankee fans that wanna commit sucide after an April loss?

Greg Cohen said...

Hahah

Hey Mike,

I'm very happy the blog is getting popular. Whatever comes along with that is fine. I wish I was getting even more comments regardless of whether they're negative or positive.

Anonymous said...

I for one am not a sky is falling guy, just like to vent my frustrations.
But I keep it real. unlike fools who are like OMG fire Girardi, Cashman is a bum, Where is Arod?, Wang is fininished, CC must be hurt, etc, etc,

Greg Cohen said...

Can anonymous posters please put a sig at the bottom of their comments we can all tell the difference between you?

Love that Coke thou, he sure knows how to impress a manager.

Anonymous said...

Coke is pitching his way to back to AAA. Ill be surprised if he isnt sent down tomorrow.
-SJD

Greg Cohen said...

He was hurt by that error. This inning should be over.

Will said...

Yankees have gotten 3 runs without Tex or ARod against a great pitching staff. This is what the Yankees pitchers should expect when they play the Rays and Boston and LA; they need to step it up. 3 runs is a lot against a team like the Rays.

Anonymous said...

LOL, you think the Yankees SS, CF, LF and RF are good? Some of those are marquee positions and the Yankees have very little at those positions. They will never win with their OF combination and a SS who has no range.

Anonymous said...

hmm im pretty sure he is the one walking people and giving up hits.
sure error hurts him but if he cant get outs then he cant get outs.

-SJD

Greg Cohen said...

Oh I know, Coke has been awful. I'm just saying this inning should be over.

Will said...

please walk the bases loaded and two outs - just for the lolz.

... darn, a double.

Anonymous said...

gives up bases clearing double, nice knowing you Coke enjoy the bus ride.

-SJD

Anonymous said...

That is a very poor way of looking at scoring 3 runs. They were also DOWN by 10. It is cause and effect.

This team will do NOTHING against good pitching and that's with Tex and Arod.

daneptizl said...

Honestly, I'd be perfectly fine with this game if it means Robertson and Melancon are called up. Coke doesn't have the velocity that he had last year. I also don't understand why the Yankees didn't sign Durham and decided to go with Ransom.

Will said...

Glory Days!

Anonymous said...

someone else needs to play third. Bottomline.
Also bottom line = Coke needs to be sent down and someone else can be brought up roberston , melanson, whoever.

Mike said...

There's going to be a lot of pressure on Burnett to be a stopper if Wang keeps this up.

Greg Cohen said...

Dane I agree about Durham.

As for Coke, he's probably gonna get sent down. I also have no idea what happened to his fastball. Instead of 92-95 he's throwing 89-91.

Greg Cohen said...

Hahaha, nice Will.

Anonymous said...

Velocity down prob because he is shaking in his boots trying to throw strikes and hit corners, knowing that he has walked the ballpark so far and is about to loose his spot like seven games into the season.

-sjd

daneptizl said...

Robertson today: 3 innings, 1 hit, 1 walk, 7 Ks. Robertson needs to get the call-up within 2 weeks.

Anonymous said...

lol forget that , id say he needs to be called up tomorrow.

-sjd

daneptizl said...

Well I would too, but he wouldn't be able to pitch until like Thursday.

Greg Cohen said...

Hahahahaha Nick Swisher is pitching. WOW!

daneptizl said...

SWISHHHHHH... LOOK AT THAT SLIDER... I THOUGHT I'D NEVER SEE THE DAY OF A YANKEE POSITION PLAYER PITCHING.

daneptizl said...

lol, he shook it off...

daneptizl said...

Swisher for Man of the Year. Kapler needs to re-retire.

Greg Cohen said...

This is classic. Scoreless inning for Swisher.

Anonymous said...

Wow, and what was Cabrera doing there? Does he understand he is not the CFer?

daneptizl said...

Cabrera was pulling a Sammy Sosa, not knowing how to speak(or understand) English.

Anonymous said...

lol atleast swisher has made us laugh tongiht.

daneptizl said...

At least the Sox are losing 5-1.

Anonymous said...

what did cabrera do?

Anonymous said...

You're probably right but thats how people get hurt. Furthermore, Cabrera stinks. Its a pretty sad day when the Yankees FO actually thinks he is a 4th OFer and good bench player. Its no wonder they are where they are.

Anonymous said...

what did he do? Plus Swisher is clearly the best pitcher tonight, that is so very sad and embarassing, it will be all over espn.

daneptizl said...

The bench/bullpen will be sorted out. I'd have to think this lopsidedness of a loss would help Cash understand what needs to be done.

Anonymous said...

I tell you what this Yankees FO really pisses me off. I simple dont understand how they think this is a good team and a proper use of all their resources. I have never seen a GM that wastes more on less than Cashman. What a friggin joke....wait until this idiot signs Jeter to an extension. Worse part is some of you will be happy about it.

Greg Cohen said...

Guys relax... It's one game. I can understand being pissed about tonight, but this game doesn't mean the Yankees suck.

Anonymous said...

no nick swisher pitching in a 15-3 beat down does.

Greg Cohen said...

No it doesn't. It means that Chien-Ming Wang sucked and the Yankees had to get 7 innings out of their bullpen.

Will said...

God help the Yankees if their pen really is this bad.

dan said...

Im already over the loss... I couldnt get over the loss yesterday, but today we had no shot at winning so Im not as pissed, Im just embarrased

Anonymous said...

part of me hopes they start a salary cap , then mabey the yankees will spend that boat loads of revenues on the draft and player development.
b/c lets face it, darker times are ahead , with no shortstop, leftfielder, catcher, closer.
sure we already have some prospects to fill those, but so far our prospects have mostly been overhyped and just not that great.

Anonymous said...

lol nice move by girardi not bringing tomko up north.

-sjd

Will said...

Tex MUST play tomorrow. Tomorrow will be a one run ball game (as long as the bullpen doesnt get involved).

Anonymous said...

someone else must play third tomorrow, and tex hopefully will play.

Anonymous said...

I am not talking about one game. I swear you media lovers are the most clueless people on the face of the planet. The Yankees have beaten anyone except the Royals. That STINKS. This team is so poor in so many important areas it is not funny and you continually do the samethign. YOu refuse the truth.

Greg Cohen said...

"Media lovers"?

What are you talking about?

You do realize they're missing their starting first a third baseman? And that it's the 7th game of the year?

Can you give the team a couple months before coming to these conclusions?

Will said...

Look at this, the damn Rays look like they play in North Korea. They need to move.

Will said...

OMG - I just noticed - they hung TWO banners for last year?!! one for the ALEast and one for the ALChamp. Ok, that's gay.

Greg Cohen said...

hahaha

Winning is new to them, they're still trying to figure out how to handle it.

Anonymous said...

lol ok the moron who said medialovers is just said.
You are the same type of scum that writes money for nothing after the first game of the season.
If you dont understand this game, please keep your comments to your self, they are just embarassing for you and everyone else.
For Shame.

Mike said...

What I don't understand is why everyone is so giddy about the Rays. Sure, they have a talented young team but is it a guarantee that their bullpen or rotation will hold up the way they did last year? No, because you can't guarantee that with any team. Right now the Rays are 4-3 and just got rocked up in Baltimore for two straight games just as the Yankees did.

It's been 7 games and the Orioles and Jays are the top two teams in the Al East at the moment, which is just more proof that it's early.

Anonymous said...

Tough loss hopefully Wang gets it together the yankees need him to pitch well.

Greg Cohen said...

It is early. Tomorrow is another day. Hopefully A.J. can have another good game and get the W.

Thanks for all the comments.

anonyMOOSE said...

Wang needs to fix something. Belt high, 89-90 MPH fastballs, with little-to-no sinking action, are not going to cut it.

That being said, aside from Wang's awful starts and CCs opener, the team has played decent all around. And aside from the one bad blown chance by the bullpen in KC (which is going to happen to any team from time to time), the team is really not playing poorly.

It's going to take more than a week of games for the true colors of this team to show. Once Wang straghtens himself out and Tex and A-Rod are back, I have a feeling we're going to see a level of consistancy that we haven't enjoyed for years.

Anonymous said...

For the nine millionth time, it isn't 7 games, you keep repeating the same old warn out news media apartheid garbage. This is NOT a new team and what this team is doing right now is EXACTLY what they did last year and the year before that. Now, they are even older.

And, nobody gives a shit whether they are missing their first baseman or third baseman, furthermore, thank you for pointing out the OBVIOUS Mr. News Media. That is a bullshit excuse. Every team has injuries and the Yankees have a lot of them year in and year out because they are OLD. Their third baseman sucks anyways. I'll take 10 Tex's for 1 Arod. Arod is a choke artist that NEVER does anything when it counts.

YOU put your faith in Jeter, Posada, Matsui, Arod and Mo. They are nothign but OLD MEN! You simple can't stand facts like all news media.

Do you want to take bets on this team finishing first or making the playoffs? They will do neither and that is with improving their pitching immensely.

It is so funny listening to you media lovers. You cry wolf when there is no wolf so when the real wolf shows up no one can recognize him. You never worry about important matters but then you concentrate on little things (i.e. its only 7 games). This is called STRAINING AT A GNAT AND SWALLOWING THE CAMEL. This is what ALL the news media does (mainstream or sports take your pick!) and they do it via APARTHEID! Minority over majority! Read any newspaper today. End o story! Newspaper salesman that's it. ROFLMAO.

anonyMOOSE said...

Dude, "anonymous", you need to stop watching baseball immediately. You are insane.

Mike B. said...

You know, a few folks in this thread mentioned Micahel Kay (to me, he's one of those guys who always looks like he stinks, but perhaps that's no matter), and one of you mentioned how he seems to get excited when the OTHER TEAM hits a home run or scores some runs. I'd add that he even sounds like he's rooting for the other team (of course, that garbage man Sterling does the same thing). I have no idea why the Yankees would hire someone who sounds like he's rooting for the other guys.

But for years now I've had a solution. I actually listen to the televised games with the sound off/muted. I know enough about the game to know what's happening. Now that I get all the Yankee games on the dish, I find myself much more relaxed (even when they are taking a beating) while I watch the game with no sound. How pleasant it is not to have to hear that plastic-faced bozo sound like he's cheering for the other guys.

Has anyone else noticed MK's propensity for this?

Mike

Greg Cohen said...

I have Mike B., I really don't like listening to Kay at all.

When he was talking about Harry Kalas, and how beloved Kalas is in Philly, I couldn't help thinking that Kay will never be loved like that by Yankees fans, ever. The main reason is because he is too obsessed with sound impartial.

As far as the muting thing, that's not a bad idea, but I like the sound of the crowd too much.

Mike B. said...

Right, Greg; he'll never be beloved in NYC.

Regarding muting, after a Yankee hits a home run or after three guys score on a triple I'll actually put the sound back on just to hear the crowd noise. Then it's "click," back to mute. You gotta love remote controls!
