A-Rod Could Be Back Before May

From ESPN:
Alex Rodriguez's progress in rehab after hip surgery is going so well that he could rejoin the New York Yankees by the end of April.

When Rodriguez underwent hip surgery on March 9, the initial prognosis was for him to miss six to nine weeks. That would have had him returning anywhere from the end of April to the middle of May.

Yankees hitting coach Kevin Long told the New York Post that Rodriguez has begun to hit and "feels 70 percent." Long speaks with the third baseman daily, the Post reported.

Citing an unnamed team official, the Post also said it's possible Rodriguez could be back on the field by late April if the Yankees were to support that.
As long as he doesn't rush back too soon this is a good thing. Hopefully the Yankees can play well without him, much like they did without Jeter in '03, but the sooner he can come back the better.

I highly doubt he will be back before May. Remember he still didn't start any baseball activity and he had a very short spring training.

But good sign he is feeling stronger though.

You make a good point Anon, but he did start baseball activities. He has started taking every-day batting practice sessions.

Getting him back will be great. I'm not too worried at this point though. I know it was only spring training, but I really like the way the team has been playing. Like Girardi said in one of his recent interviews, the team is getting used to winning and that is a great feeling throughout the clubhouse. As long as the Yankees can have a solid April and May (not like what they have been doing the past couple of years), I will be extremely happy. A-Rod rejoining the Yankees will be like a mid-season pickup. For now, I love how Cody Ransom has been playing. Go Yanks!

@ Yankeeboy98

I didn't know he started swinging the bat thats good news.

But A-Rod and the yankees should not rush it, the yankees can survive without A-Rod for a month and half. They need A-Rod feeling healthy down the stretch.

I wish newspapers would stop these "unnamed sources" nonsense. it makes them look so not credible. but i'm happy Alex is doing better. Lord knows the Yanks need his production.

Would it really be that great to get him back? The team has developed a certain chemistry without him over the past month. How is the team going to react to having a non-stop look at me spectacle back in the building. Before the arguments start about the value of his bat, I've seen more production with runners in scoring position without him this spring.
