Kauffman Stadium - Kansas City, Missouri
(3 games)
After a subpar opening series in Baltimore, the Yankees head to Kansas City to take on the Royals in a three-game weekend series at the newly renovated Kauffman Stadium. The Yankees were 5-5 against the Royals last year and hope to get the season series started on the right foot today in the Royals home opener.
The Royals have gone through a bit of a renovation themselves adding Coco Crisp, Mike Jacobs, Juan Cruz, Kyle Farnsworth, Sidney Ponson and Willie Bloomquist over the offseason. They are a much improved team, and many experts are even picking them to win the AL Central. I don't know about that, but there is a good chance they will be able to at least dig themselves out of the cellar.

YANKEES - Nick Swisher and Xavier Nady: Neither Swisher or Nady have done great against KC in their careers; Swisher is hitting .245/.360/.463, with 9 HR and 28 RBI in 41 games, and at Kauffman Stadium he's hitting just .214/.349/.357, with 3 HR and 14 RBI in 20 games. Nady has only played in three games against the Royals and went 3-for-12 with a homer and an RBI. The reason I think we should keep an eye on these two this series is because of Joe Girardi. If Swisher plays, we will get an idea if he's really set on starting Xavier Nady or if he will just go with the hot hand.

ROYALS - Jose Guillen: This guy always seemed to hammer the Yankees last season, in 10 games last year he hit .308/.357/.692, hit 4 homers, 3 doubles, and drove in 12. Throughout his career his number are less impressive, but still good. In 54 games against the Yanks he's a .281/.350/.508 hitter with 9 HR and 27 RBI.

Injury Report
YANKEES
- Alex Rodriguez, 3B: 15-day DL with a torn labrum in right hip. He's expected back in mid May.
ROYALS
- John Bale, LHP: 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27 as he recovers from thyroid surgery. When he regains his strength and stamina, he will be activated. At that point he will pitch in at least one or two games on a minor league rehab assignment before rejoining the Royals.

Why is CC going before Joba?
Good question... let me make sure of that these are right.
Yep it's right, ESPN has the same thing. I think they flip-flopped them so that CC would be lined up for Opening Day.
He's also on his normal rest because of the offday Tuesday.
Oh. Thanks for clearing it up Greg.
Will Swish play again today?
I know this is a little late, but the answer to your question is yes.
