Montero is such a beast. If he can work on his catching skills he could be a top 10 prospect in no time. Right now that's the only thing holding him back.

anyone know if the yanks have anything with this kid McAllister? future starter or bullpen guy for NY, or trade bait?

Baseball America ranked McAllister as the Yankees fifth best prospect, just behind Dellin Betances. Last year he was very good at Charleston and Tampa, and has carried it over into this season with Trenton.

BA says he's got a 93-94 mph four-seamer with "modest tail," a two-seamer that sits at 89-91 "with nasty sink and armside run." They also say that his slider and changeup are both solid and he can throw them for strikes.

He's a groundball pitcher, and is lacking a real strikeout pitch, but that could come with time.

They finish off by saying that he "has the body, mechanics and repertoire to be a mid-rotation workhorse."
