News & Notes

- Chien-Ming Wang will make one more minor league start tomorrow in Pawtucket for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and Phil Hughes will make the start for the Yankees Monday against the Rangers.

- Joba Chamberlain is 2-0 witha 2.18 ERA in 11 games (two starts) against the Orioles. This year he's 1-0, with a 4.50 ERA in one start. He allowed three runs on nine hits in Baltimore on May 10th.

- Adam Eaton is 2-1, with a 5.17 ERA in three career starts against the Yankees. He pitched one game at the old stadium back in 2004 for the Padres. He went seven and allowing just two runs on four hits, walked three and struck out four, and picked up the win. This year he's made one start against them and he picked up a win while going five while allowed four runs on four hits, walked five and struck out just one.

- Johnny Damon is out because he wrenched his neck when he jumped for Adam Jones home run yesterday. He should only miss one game.

- The Yankees have won 10 of their last 12 and eight in a row. A win tonight would give the Yankees their longest winning streak of the Joe Girardi era.

Girardi sure saved his job.

Yankees are hot since ARod rejoined and CC started pitching. Lesson there seems to be CC needs to start sprint training in Jan.

Tonight is a great night for baseball, even better than Tuesday. Ticket demand on Stubhub was lackluster this week even tho the weather forecast all week has been for perfection tonight. Seems like prices in the middle tier have a floor at about $45 closer to dugout and $20 as you get to 205 (unless you want to sit in the back row, which i think sucks).

I'll be sitting in 206, row 4, seats 4 + 5. I got my tickets for $29 + fees so really $35 each. Full season ticket plan face price is $40. Not bad, and in row 4 I might just catch a ball.

Let's go Yankees!!!

Trenton just got perfect gamed.

lol

This is why the yankees cant have three catchers when Molina and Posada come back. Matsui and Damon are very fragile. Nady wont see the outfield until August he is coming off DL as a pinch hitter/DH. You need 1 roster spot for a 4th outfielder who is Gardner and you need another utility infielder which is Pena and the backup catcher will be Molina. And Nady will have the last spot.

So Cervelli will have to go back to the minors.

So is Wang pitching in today's game cause Kontos is pitching right now?

Greg Cohen said...

Wang is pitching tomorrow.

Hopefully Joba doesn't have to miss any time.

So Greg .. jiinx the bullpen or what?? this will be tough for them to battle

Emmanuel said...

Damn, hopefully Aceves can keep the O's off balance seeing as how they weren't prepared for him.

Greg Cohen said...

This has nothing to do with the bullpen. If I had said "it's a good thing they're healthy," then I could be blamed.

holycow10 said...

ahhhh it never ends yanks are on a role everything is good...joba takes a line drive to the leg. knocks him out of the game...ahhh it never ends!

Vinsanity13 said...

This is clearly a test for the bullpen tonight.
8.1 innings (at least) could be damaging.

Who starts tomorrow? Sabathia? He could give the bullpen a needed rest.

Greg Cohen said...

Aceves is a starter he can give them at least four or five. They could also used Tomko for more than an inning, maybe even three if they need it. The best thing they can do is score four or five runs.

Emmanuel said...

Good shit, great way to start the game.

Greg Cohen said...

Nice Tex! 2-0 Yanks on back-to-back-to-back doubles.

Emmanuel said...

WOoooooo, let's go Tex

Emmanuel said...

HAHAHAHAHAHA what the hell was up with the close up of A Rod's face, looks like he wanted to cry.

crossfire said...

Nice start to the game.

Emmauel said...

What a jackass play by Melky but it still helped.

Greg Cohen said...

Yea Crossfire, that's exactly what they needed.

Greg Cohen said...

Nice, two more, 6-0 Yanks!

Emmanuel said...

Robbie's starting to heat up again.

This team is awesome right now, simply awesome.

Man Toronto is losing 3-0 already, looks like the AL East is a major flaw in Toronto's game.

Greg Cohen said...

lol I don't think Toronto is that good, they seem to be a product of a weak schedule.

Greg Cohen said...

Quick hook for Aceves, I thought he would go at least another inning. Oh well he did a great job... Of course Albaladejo gives up a homer. I knew I shouldn't have said anything.

Unknown said...

Aceves pitched two innings yesterday (23 pitches), so I'm not surprised he's out of this one after 3.1 IP. Gotta give that kid credit--he did a great job.

Anonymous said...

Trembleys face was like this 8D when he took out eaton, wtf

Greg Cohen said...

That's right, Chris. Totally forgot he pitched yesterday.

(y)=====D (())

Thats what we did to Eaton

ROFLMAO

Sorry to jump back in time 4 innings here, but I have a question about the line drive Chamberlain took in the leg. To me, it looked like the ball hit him in the lower thigh, but I read an article that said it hit him on the knee. Does anyone have better information than I do about this?

Greg Cohen said...

I thought it hit him on the side of the knee. And from all the articles I've read, that's what people are saying.

Unknown said...

Also, Dave Trembley looks exactly like William Shatner.

Unknown said...

Thanks, Greg. Hopefully it isn't too serious.

Greg Cohen said...

hahahah you're right Christopher, he does.

Greg Cohen said...

Ah damn it I knew I was gonna jinx them.

Unknown said...

Ultimately, the problem with Jonathan Albaladejo is that he just isn't very good. Either that, or he has a guilty pleasure for giving up big leads.

Anonymous said...

X-rays on Joba's knee were negative. Looks like we dodged a bullet.

Greg Cohen said...

Yup, good news. I just posted the info in a separate post above.

Anonymous said...

You jinxed 'em Greg.

Greg Cohen said...

I know, I know.

Unknown said...

I'm so sick of Albaladejo blowing games...Ok, so I just checked his stats, and it turns out that he just turned in 8 straight appearances without giving up a run. It seems like he's giving up runs anytime I ever see him pitch. At any rate, I'm much happier watching Veras pitch.

Greg Cohen said...

Veras scares the hell out of me. It's gotta be Aceves/Coke for the 6th and 7th, Bruney the 8th, and Mo in the 9th. That needs to be the formula.

Unknown said...

I prefer blowout victories. BUT, if I wanna try to look on the bright side, I might get a hold out of Bruney and a save out of Rivera--either would give my fantasy team a real boost, lol. Still, I hope they hit 6 home runs in a row this inning to put it out of reach.

Unknown said...

I like that formula too. Veras was lights-out last year, though. I'm waiting for that guy to show up. He's got great stuff--I think he'll come around.

Greg Cohen said...

He does have great stuff, and that's what makes it even more frustrating. If he could throw strikes consistently he would be nearly unhittable.

.... Veras out there must mean no Mo tonight and Bruney is closing.

Greg Cohen said...

uhhhh so much for that. So where's Bruney?

Anonymous said...

Yea, you definitely jinxed them.

Greg Cohen said...

I know!

Unknown said...

Got out of the inning. Thank god. This game is wayyy closer than it should be.

Greg Cohen said...

They need another big, put the game away inning.

Unknown said...

What they need now is for Rivera to come out focused, and get a nice, one-two-three inning. Let's get this one in the books.

Unknown said...

Actually, I take that back. Rivera pitched over an inning yesterday, which was ridiculous. I'd rather see Girardi give Bruney a chance to close this one out. I think Rivera should be limited to one-inning outings, and after the atypical night he had last night, he should have a night off to rest.

Unknown said...

At least it was a nice, short inning. Nice little nine-game winning streak we've got going here!

Anonymous said...

YANKEEEEEEEEEEEEEES WIN THAAAAAA YANKEES WWWWIIIINNN!! dadadada

Anonymous said...

doouble digits tomorrow!!!1!111!!

Greg Cohen said...

I was surprised to see Mo. I hope someone asks Girardi where Bruney was.

Unknown said...

Agreed.

Anonymous said...

Smart move by Girardi not using Phil Coke. With all the Phillies lefty's he will be used a lot over the weekend.

Anonymous said...

Maybe Girardi wanted to give Bruney two days off after his injury.

crossfire said...

Yeah, I'm not sure but I was thinking that they wanted to limit Bruney a bit. He's throwing heat and a little extra rest can't hurt.

Of course, I don't want to see Mo get overworked either.

Good win for the Yanks with Joba going out early. Hoe he makes his next start.

God UPN's post game show is awful you dont get any answers to some of these questions.
