I'll be keeping track of the all-star voting until the teams are announced.
10 Comments:
A lot of Red Sox fans must not have things to do in their everyday lives.
Why is Justin Morneau 4th on the list but Kevin Youkilis 1st?
First and Second base are really tough this year. Some good players are going to be home watching on TV, no way around it.
Damon should be higher on that list
no way jacoby ellsbury is higher than damon
These votes are never fair, it's always a mindless popularity contest. Luckily for Jeter there aren't any other good AL shortstops.
Teixeira has no business being in the top 4, but I think Youkilis-Cabrera-Morneau is otherwise the right order. It's sad that Cabrera gets so much less attention playing for the Tigers, because he really should be neck and neck with Youkilis for that spot, same for Morneau. The outfield is a shitshow, as it is for the NL - absolutely no love for Raul Ibanez even though he's destroying the ball and is the mid-season NL MVP.
Do you guys think that the additional managers' picks end up getting the right guys on the team, or is that just another opportunity to mess things up by getting more of the managers' regular players on the team? I'm inclined to think that sportswriters, or someone else, should be picking these guys. Nice for the fans to have something, but this process just favors big-market teams and popular players way too much.
there's a heavy tilt towards Boston & Texas. Hopefully it evens out in the end.
Markakis, Crawford, Cruz, and Hunter. Two of those four should go with Bay. It is hard to really have a big fuss over anyone else though. I guess Damon deserves to be higher as well but I am not sure if he is more of an All-Star than the four I previously mentioned.
what do you mean mark teixeira shouldn't be in the top 4 for first base. the only reason kevin youkilis has a good average is because he knocks can of corn fly balls off the green monster for hits. teixeira crushes the ball at Yankee Stadium and even thogh there has been a lot of homeruns there his would be homeruns anywhere. miguel cabrera gets as much attention as he should get, hes lucky hes even on the list, he doesn't do anything special for the tigers. Morneau I can understand being ahead of teixeira because hes is an amazing hitter that will make you pay on any mistake you make and he is a decent fielder.
I also agree that Raul Ibanez should be at the top of the list in the NL he is doing amazing. and your right the all star game is a popularity contest, sportswriters should decide who goes.
