Posada Injures Hamstring, MRI Set For Tomorrow

According to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch, Jorge Posada injured his right hamstring while sliding into second base during tonight's 6-4 loss to the Red Sox.

"He said he felt it grab," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "It's not something that we need at this point. It's something we'll have more of an answer on after his MRI."

Girardi said that he could not estimate the severity of Posada's injury but that he would discuss with general manager Brian Cashman whether the Yankees needed to call up another catcher. Jose Molina is the only other backstop on New York's roster.

"I'm not sure how bad it's going to be, but he won't be playing [Tuesday], I can tell you that," Girardi said.

This year is feeling more and more like the injury-plagued 2008 campaign with every passing day. If they lose Posada for an extended period of time they're in trouble.

Atleast they are getting an MRI right away instead of waiting a few days to see how it reacts.

The injuries have been crazy. There was a time when we thought we had too many outfielders and then Nady goes down.

These injuries have really sucked. For the second year in a row this team hasn't had a chance to play at full strength. It's really, really, frustrating. At the same time it's no excuse. They need to go out there and play Yankee baseball.
