Anthony Rieber has updates on Alex Rodriguez and Chien-Ming Wang from their extended spring training rehab game today. A-Rod
played five innings in an extended spring training game against Pirates' minor-leaguers today. He went 0-for-6, and struck out twice. He also played the field for the first time. 20-year-old outfielder Gemmy Gonzalez hit a one-hopper to A-Rod, which he fielded cleaning and then threw out Gonzalez.
The plan is for him to take Sunday off before resuming game action tomorrow. A return to the Yankees next weekend in Baltimore still seems possible.
Rodriguez, who is recovering from March 9 hip surgery, called it "an important day." He still has not run the bases.
Wang pitched in the same game, and threw 52 pitches in four hitless innings, he walked two, struck out three.
"Chien-Ming Wang threw the ball very well today," Joe Girardi said. "So we were really encouraged. For Alex, it's just getting his at-bats. He came out of it very good."
Pretty good news all around.

Nice. Any updates on Swish? I know the X-rays were negative but he didn't even pinch hit or something.
He's day-to-day. I'm sure he'll be back in the starting lineup tomorrow or the next day.
Alright.
