CC Keeping Things In Perspective

Today is CC Sabathia's first start against the Red Sox as a Yankee, to add to the pressure the Yankees have started the season 0-7 against their biggest rivals and are in desperate need of a win. You might think CC would look at this as a big game, even Jason Bay knows how important this game is for the Yanks, he told MLB.com that the Yanks "brought (CC) over for big games, and this is a big game for them."

Thankfully CC isn't making a big deal out out it.
"I know people don't want to hear me say this, but it's just another start," the left-hander said last night. "I'm not going to change anything I do. I'm going to keep the same approach."
No CC, I do want to hear that.

That's the kind of mentality I was hoping he'd take into this game. Us fans can consider this a very important game, and I do, I think CC needs to go out an shut Boston down for seven or eight and give the Yanks a much needed win. But players can't think that way. If they do, bad things start to happen. Pitchers try to be too fine with their pitches or try to throw the ball through the catcher, and hitters hold their bats too tight and go 2-for-17 with runners in scoring position over the first two games of a series. If you ask me the whole team has looked tight over the first two and it's good to see that CC is just treating tonight like "just another start."

time to make that paycheck CC...Im not too concerned with this team if they can pull out a win tonight. As far as Im concerned with Boston, theyre up 2-0. We should have won a couple at the beginning of the year with a lot of the team missing. We win today were tied for first and we move on to the Mets. We lose and the team leaves with its head down and has to try and rebound instead of going into a new series on a good note.

Also, why wouldnt Girardi push Wang back in such a big series for this team. Or how could he not see Wang was completely missing the zone and get Hughes in there earlier. Seems he might be taking over his predecessor's old name before the Yankees - Clueless Joe

Think about this for a second. To get to the World Series, its feasible to believe they will have to face Boston. Extremely feasible since no other divisions seem to be a challenge for the AL East giants this year. If they get to the World Series, its also very feasible that they could be facing the returning champion Phillies. To date, the Yankees have 1 win and 9 loses combined against those two teams.

Obviously we wont face Philly again this year but Boston we'll see another 11 times. So basically the Sox have already won the season series (were NOT going to sweep them 3 times in a row to take it). Another thing to look at. In the past month the Yankees have lost just 2 series. One against the Phillies and now one against the Sox.

season series many times dont reflect playoff series.
