Damon Calls Out Top of the Order

... Well, besides Mark Teixeira.

Here's more from Marc Carig:

"(The) one, two and four guys on our team haven't gotten hits so far this series, and we're the guys who should make this team go," Damon said. "(Mark) Teixeira is doing his part, but the rest of us need to be better."

Leadoff man Derek Jeter (0-for-8), Damon (1-for-9), and cleanup hitter Alex Rodriguez (0-for-7) have gone a combined 1-for-24 in the series. The only hit came on Damon's homer on Wednesday.
You could also throw Robinson Cano into the conversation, he's just 1-for-9 in the series. Not only have they picked up just one hit, they've also left a combined 14 runners on base in the first two games. With Cano they've left a total of 18 men on base.

Damon's right, it's time for the top of the order to start producing.

Damon's a great talker. I wanna see action

I'd rather hear a little talk than have them all just look complacent.

Of course as Margo said, it doesn't mean squat without the action to back it up.

In defense of Johnny, he did hit a homer last night. Although he did come up short with men on base several times.

Maybe Gardner will stop being a bitch and actually steal a base when the game is on the line. I mean he is the fastest white man alive.

Anon, that's true too.

Weather forecast not looking good for tonight but I'm keeping my fingers crossed the game gets played because (a) Sabathia v Penny gives us a real chance of winning and (b) we need to leave Boston with something to build on. Whatever the outcome, it's not going to make or break our season. Even if we lose, we'll only be two games behind Boston, having got six games at Fenway out the way. Having said that, a sweep would definitely not help our psyche going into the Subway Series.

bad time for so many hitters to be cold. these guys care and are trying, but aren't catching the breaks.

Gardner is not on his own in that situation that is a Girardi move bunting him over.

Cano has been horrible the last month of the season. In April he was the player everyone wanted him to be. He was patient, he waited for a good pitch to hit and he drew walks.

He has been horrible the last month and last night was a joke he was swinging at pitches that wasn't close to being called a strike. He needs to be taken out of the 5 hole. I love how people talk about how Cano doesn't strikeout thats because he keeps swinging at the first pitch and popping it up.

Its such a shame he is such a gifted player but has a 10 cent brain and has no baseball smarts. Surprising considering his father was a baseball player.
