WIN!!!!!

Brian Danuff said...

Congrats Wanger (once it's born)! Just don't pitch like crap!

JC said...

The Red Sox drafted David Renfroe in the third round.

So... Exactly why did the Yanks pass on him?! They need a SS in their system now that Jeter is getting older.

Anonymous said...

David Renfroe i think will not be signing with the red sox he is going to college.

Rich said...

good to see we are stocking up on the PITCHING

Rob S said...

We need a win, I was there last night, leaving fenway was embarrasing. I am so happy to be back in NY. On that note, the sox are starting to get in our heads with this 0-6 stuff I know it. That is why we need to turn it around before it gets worse. Also, like many have said lining up wang to pitch this series with their lineup will be tough when he A) sucks this year, B) is limited to 85-90pitches and C) faces this sox lineup...I am scared once again I just dont know about this matchup ...

Anonymous said...

I like the yanks drafting a bunch of college pitchers in the late rounds. They are closer to being major league ready and could help in the bullpen in a year or two.

YankeePride3 said...

The Yankees drafted a bunch of guys who have high potential. Cothram, Black, Lyons and Stoneburner all have high potential but some flaws or concerns here or there. If they can get them all right, they got some high potential guys here. Lyons is probably my favorite of the fourth, hes a good lefty pitcher.

Lyerly has bad plate discipline, but that can be taught as it often is to young hitters and has huge power. Neil Medchill was my favorite pick today. He has biggggg power potential. If they can sign all of these guys, they got a lot of guys who have a chance to do something.

Greg Cohen said...

Where the hell is Swisher going?

JC said...

Wang's sinker looks great, he just is having control issues. He's getting groundballs, though.

Anonymous said...

True.

Greg Cohen said...

Yea he looks like he's got good stuff, he's just wasting too many pitches cause he can't hit the zone. Against a team like this it will cost him.

Greg Cohen said...

Way to give the lead right back... Get Hughes back in the rotation. Wang right now is no better than Rasner or Ponson.

JC said...

And it doesn't help when Swisher can't catch a freakin' flyball.

Anonymous said...

HOW THE FUCK DO YOU MISS THAT SWISHER?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?

0-8 here we come!

Greg Cohen said...

That's a joke. He has to make that play.

Anonymous said...

The Yankees have the worst FO in the bigs. What kind of moron starts Wang? What has he proven to give him a start? Nothing. That is how you get rewarded with the Yankees. That's why Cashman is still here after wasting tons of $$$$$$ doing nothing and drafting like a bozo.

Anonymous said...

Swisher is terrible. Hes another Cashman player. Absolutely horrible defensively, can't think and is terrible with RISP. If you ever need to waste money or send your business plummeting just hire Cashman or any US politician.

Anonymous said...

54 pitches threw 1 and 2/3. ROFLMAO. Yankees=IDIOTS

daneptizl said...

Even if we win.... Swisher for GOAT of the game... no competition

JC said...

Other than his control, Wang looks pretty good....

I know the number of runs doesn't say so, but the walks and lack of defense have helped out.

His sinker is really moving.

Anonymous said...

He's thrown 60 pitches in 2 innings and given up 3 runs to the a 1st place team. NOBODY GIVES A FLYING FUCK HOW HIS SINKER LOOKS.

Look at the positive, Wang will be out by the end of the 3rd inning with 90 pitches. Yankee management=smart.

daneptizl said...

1 damn first pitch swings... terrible

Will said...

Wang looks pretty good as a batting tee. Congrats to girardi and the coaching staff for being the biggest dumbasses since george bush; this failure was more predictable than the iraq war morass. Now can we have some real coaches and real pitchers start games. Like Veras for example.

JC said...

It does matter how his sinker looks, moron. That's the pitch that was flat before and causing problems.

It's just his control now.

JC said...

Why do you people need to insert politics into fuckin' everything? It's a goddamn sports blog!

I'm outta here.

Anonymous said...

How many pitches will Wang have this inning?

Its amazing that this team looks just like it did before a certain somebody went on the DL, then they played lights out, and now miraculously they look exactly like they did since this certain player returned.

And, according to some, this certain player is so good and he definitley would have made the team better because of replacement for him stinks.

So, why hasn't our team IMPROVED when this said player returned??????????????????????????????????

Will said...

Because its funny JC lighten up, life is too short to get all emotionally attached to a bunch of self serving politicians.

Mario said...

60 + pitches thru 2.0 + innings, 4 runs, yeah Wang sucks ass, & still needs serious work...he might as well throw BP to the SOX..

Greg Cohen said...

Anonymous, you're a moron. Stop with the political shit.

Anonymous said...

George Bush is a fucking genius compared to Obama. After 100 days of the Harvard grad the whole country is wishing they had dumb Bush back. Unless, of course, you wanted to go bankrupt because of a $1.7 TRILLION dollar budget deficit and trying to appoint EVERY tax cheat, liar and criminal to important positions. And, yes the Iragi war was bad because of Bush, but a mass murderer in Hussein is not. DUMBASS LIBERAL. How did those 100 wars in 50 years, 2 every six months, that the United Nations "peace keeping" forces sponsored work out? Are those wars ok? DUMBASS LIBERAL. How's killing 50million babies workign out for you and Tiller? DUMBASS LIBERAL.

Another run by Wang. How special. You are so smart Cashman and Girardi. DUMBASSES!

Rich said...

good productive lengthy outing

Will said...

Girardi will have his usual deer in the headlights look at the post game press conference tonight. They will pound him to explain why he thought it was a good idea to start the stuggling wang against the toughest team in the AL. And girargi will we reply with those glass wide eyes talking about how they have faith in Wang and he's going to be a major contributor, and he won't answer the question directly because he has no answer because he's a jelly fish moron whoes skills start and end with how to fillout an allstart balot.

Anonymous said...

Hey dumbass Greg, Will brought up Bush. DUMBASS.

Greg Cohen said...

I don't care. I'm telling you to stop.

daneptizl said...

This just shows how terrible of a move having brought Wang back so soon was. I'm not glad they're paying for it, but at least the Yanks get to realize the stupidity that was involved in making that decision.

Anonymous said...

Yankees FO = SMART. You all supported them continually.

Obama=President. You all voted for the inexperienced, leftist, Marxist who never accomplished anything. Now you can sleep in the bed you made. Enjoy!

Rich said...

Nobody pay attention to the political weirdo anon, but why the hell was Phil not starting this game god dammit.

Greg Cohen said...

Nice RBI single by Melky... Lead cut to two.

Will said...

I have sox tickets in august at the stadium. Girardi better get his head on staight by then, I hope he starts Veras that game.

If CC chokes tomorrow its going to be embarrassing. Damn I hate that city.

daneptizl said...

Damnit Jeter/A-Rod

Rich said...

stupid knuckleball is so slow it doesn't go anywhere when they hit it

daneptizl said...

If Wakefield can throw 74, doesn't it seem like we should be able to?

Rich said...

Oh my god so annoying.....

Greg Cohen said...

Wasted opportunities - everyone is pressing when there are men on base. The Sox are in their heads, there's no doubt about it.

Anonymous said...

Wow you are so good Damon its amazing. 3-0 and you do nothing. Hey Brian Cashman hurry up and give Damon $50m over 5 years! What a steal for you! Actually, throw in Hughes and Texeira to the A's for Holliday. Fuckign dumbass.

Anonymous said...

That 2nd fastball to Damon was a ball that wasn't close.

And terrible at bats by Derek Jeter today.

Greg Cohen said...

That's true it was outside.

daneptizl said...

At least my boy's in the game and it's watchable now.

Wow Damon might be one of the yankees most clutch players this season.

daneptizl said...

Hughes throwing some heat today.

Greg Cohen said...

This run scores and I think it's over. They're not scoring three runs off the Sox pen.

Greg Cohen said...

Well, that should about do it.

Rich said...

fuckin mountain man head asshole

daneptizl said...

Yeah, but at least Hughes got some work in.

Anonymous said...

WHAT THE FUCK! I CAN'T TAKE THIS SHIT ANYMORE! TALK ABOUT HAVING A TEAM BY THE BALLS

Anonymous said...

Cashman and Girardi should be fired immediately following this game.

Damon sucks. Damon is another old man who doesn't belong anywhere on this team and surely not as a starting LFer. Damon, Jeter, Matsui, Nady, Mo, Arod, and Posada are all over-the-hill old men who should go somewhere else. You can build a whole team on what we waste on these old men.

Anonymous said...

The funniest part about this debacle besides the Yankees FO being the joke that they are. Is that, this whole losing streak vs. Boston was started by ONE player and ONE player only. MARIANO RIVERA. He's been doing it since 2001.

Another old man who should go somehwere else. And, you all support him like he is something. Hilarious. You applaud failure. No wonder you like Obamanation.

Greg Cohen said...

Last warning... I'm deleting any posts with anything political.

Now Hughes can't throw strikes either. What the hell is wrong with these guys?

Greg Cohen said...

It looks like they're afraid of contact.

Anonymous said...

That's more like it Phil.

If it were me I would have started Veras, and then brought Coke in to close. That would have show the Redsox who's boss.

Anonymous said...

Its called JORGE POSADA, thats whats wrong with these pitchers. What is wrong with YOU guys? Blind, deaf and dumb.

The $200million dollar Brian Cashman built Yankees can't hit Wakefield. TOO FUNNY FOR WORDS.

That's right Damon you loser. Hit a HR when you're down by 3 but not when you have 2 men on base. No wonder this team can't beat ANY good team regularly. Sign them all to an extension tomorrow.

Anonymous said...

Great job Alex. This guy is such a joke.

Unknown said...

Peter Gammons can shut his mouth now that we just launched 2 in the same area at Fenway. Fenway park is a joke. It's the 21st century not 1912 anymore.

Anonymous said...

I said Damon sucks and he does. He needed to do that when he had 2 men on NOT when the bases are empty. Fools.

Damon has NEVER done anything with us. He's a terrible OFer with no arm and costs us runs because of it. He swings a good bat but doesn't do it with men on base. He does it when we dont need it. Just like everyone else on this team.

Wanna bet we lose AGAIN? Wanna bet Girardi brings in these loser BP arms that Cashman assembled and they give MORE runs? Wanna bet Mo gives up runs? Any takers? Chicken shits!

Anonymous said...

Arod=another Cashman loser, that was signed to a 10 year contract for $300m and he gave up the subsidy. What a business man! Just like who......? ROFLMAO

Greg Cohen said...

Enough idiot.

daneptizl said...

wtf does Posada think he's doing... this is detrimental to the Yanks' chance of winning.

a7tex said...

damon's done nohting? I know nothing on the major scale of playoffs but dont u recall about 3 weeks ago he was a cluth hit machine?

Greg Cohen said...

Matsui is 2-for-7 with a walk and a strikeout against Okajima.

Unknown said...

That guy who's posting as Anon is just a little 12 year old. Nothing to worry about a7tex. They aren't old enough to have a identity name online without their parents permission.

Rich said...

the ump wants to call that outside pitch a strike so bad

a7tex said...

haha

Greg Cohen said...

He's been giving the Sox a foot on the outside corner that magically isn't there for the Yankees.

... The Yankees really need Hughes to put up a zero here.

Greg Cohen said...

Wow, Swisher!

Rich said...

it's official: i am gay for Nick Swisher

Unknown said...

If Hughes puts up a 0 and the yankees comeback to win, I think he would earn his spot in the rotation again. I hope Papelbitch gives up the run. Sweet grab by Swisher!

Rich said...

i know Greg he has been giving us shit calls this whole series

Anonymous said...

I told you, here comes the pitching moves by Girardi. And, here comes the runs.

Greg Cohen said...

He's going with Coke for the lefties, I can't blame him for that, that's Coke's job.

YankeePride3 said...

Nice grab by Swish. We really need Nady back. The Lefty/Righty platoon sounds really good right now. Matsui seems like he is getting toward the end of his career, which is sad because he was a great player at one time.

Unknown said...

I didn't see any runs? Did any of you guys?

Greg Cohen said...

Good job by Coke. Let's see if they can tie it...

Anonymous said...

I think they can beat Pabelbon tonight.

Unknown said...

If swisher gets a home run now I will get a swish-hawk tomorrow

Greg Cohen said...

I hope you're right... I also hope the Yanks score a lot of runs before it gets to that point.

Greg Cohen said...

Gotta send me a pic to prove it, Rob.

Unknown said...

Deal. If he ties it next time around the order or gets a game winner I'll still do it.

Anonymous said...

Oh yes the great Derek Jeter does nothing when the game is on the line as usual.

Who should we get rid of again? Oh that's Derek Jeter.

Rich said...

ohhhhh my goddddddd

Anonymous said...

AWFUL SWINGS BY DAMON AND JETER WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY THINKING???

Greg Cohen said...

Jeter has looked awful. They're gonna have to beat Papelbon.

JC said...

Greg, is it possible to delete this asshole's posts?

This guy's only purpose is to piss people off. The stuff he says is just outrageous. Jeter not good in the clutch? Seriously?

He just tries to get under people's skin.

Anonymous said...

Oh yea, how good is Damon again? Who's the moron?

Lets see that is about $35m taht just came to bat vs. the 1st place team and they accomplished what exactly? Oh that's right nothing AS USUAL. That's because the Yankees weren't down by enough runs so Damon could make himself look good.

When it comes to being clutch, Damon and Jeter are GHOSTS.

Greg Cohen said...

Yea I'll start deleting his posts from now on.

JC said...

I don't have a problem talking down about the Yankees and all, but he's just stupid...

Any Yankee that doesn't come through in ONE game, he talks smack about them and wants them off the team.

This place is full of fun people and he just brings the whole place down.

Will said...

Anonymous, you should write everything in ALL CAPS.

Greg Cohen said...

You're right JC, he/she is an idiot.

Greg Cohen said...

This is a big batter in this game.

Anonymous said...

Yup, you called Damon clutch and called me a moron for claiming otherwise. What did Damon do with the game on the line and RISP? Nothing, neither did our $20m horrendous fielding SS.

Rich said...

DAMMIT BLUE GIVE US THE DAMN CALL ON THE FOOT OUTSIDE CORNER LIKE U GIVE THE SUX

Greg Cohen said...

The home plate ump might as well be wearing a Red Sox cap.

Anonymous said...

Here we go. I'd feel a lot more comfortable if our 4 and 5 hitters weren't 0 for 7. Basically if Teixeira gets out the game's over but I digress.

Rich said...

asking teixeira to do something here is really pushing it at this point lol

Anonymous said...

Game over.

Greg Cohen said...

I'd really love it if A-Rod ran into one right now.

Anonymous said...

That was the pitch.

Anonymous said...

Remember when Yankee Stadium used to sound like this?

daneptizl said...

He missed it.

Greg Cohen said...

I'll take the walk.. good job... come on Robbie!

Rich said...

where is the freaking plate patience that Cano has found, god dammit

Greg Cohen said...

Launch one!

Rich said...

FUCKIN A MAN

Greg Cohen said...

Did Cano swing at one strike?

Alright, it's up to Jorge...

Unknown said...

Cano has to be more patient! Take the first pitch or 2.

Anonymous said...

Did he really just call that 2-0 pitch a strike????

Rich said...

friggin nailbiter of a game

Greg Cohen said...

Just missed it. Damn it. 0-7.

JC said...

Again, no clutch hitting...

We could've easily scored eight runs or so in this game, but didn't. We choked when we had chances.

crossfire said...

I hate when comebacks fall short. Son of a bitch.

Well, I watched the game on MLB Gameday but caught part of it on tv earlier. It doesn't look like Wang was any good but the lousy base running and poor fielding by Swisher probably cost us the game.

What the hell was wrong with him tonight? He had his head up his ass.

Swisher is not an every day player. He is a good bench player. Get somebody for the outfield dammit!

Anonymous said...

Having Jeter, A-Rod, and Cano go 0 for 14 isn't gonna games.

Rich said...

we are better than the god damn red sox this sucksss

Anonymous said...

*win games

Mario said...

0-7,,,,0-7,,,, our record in our division sucks ass...FIX IT NOW...no excuse, should never have come to this,

Greg Cohen said...

True.

At this point I think the Sox are just a better team, even without Ellsbury. Their bullpen is better, their starting pitching in the games against the Yanks has been much better, and they're getting the big hits while the Yanks come up short.

Anonymous said...

I dont know about you guys but I am so glad that our .308 hitting catcher came up with the game on the line because he is so much better than Cervelli. Posada is just so damn good its amazing. He called another great game tonight too.

I was so happy to see Jeter, Damon, Tex and Arod have a chance to do something big with the game on the line. Just missed it!

With this Cashman built team who could be against us?

Rich said...

having to write a civil rights essay just adds to the loss, damn.

Anonymous said...

How about their GM is better?

Anonymous said...

Lets have a little milk because the meat is too hard on your sissy little stomachs.

Give me 5 reasons why Brian Cashman should be the GM based on baseball facts.

Mike said...

While this is an embarrassment I'm not ready to say that the Red Sox are a better team than the Yankees. I will say they play a hell of a lot better when the two teams face off but I still don't think they're a better team. The Yankees will eventually get their bullpen figured out and once Nady comes back the offense will have yet another boost. Going 0-7 against Boston is never a good thing but it's up to our ace to make it 1-7 starting tomorrow, we have to leave Boston tied for first and do some work against the Mets.

Anonymous said...

This game is an uphill battle. You cant win these games if your starters can only go 2 innings.

Greg Cohen said...

We've watched them beat us 7 times, how can any of us say they aren't the better team? They've out played the Yanks in every way imaginable.

daneptizl said...

lol Ellsbury doesn't do much of a difference... Ellsbury is getting out OPS+ed by Gardner by 10 points... I'm not worried about this team being better than the Sox, because they are... just disappointed they haven't won at least a couple against them.

Greg Cohen said...

How can you say they're better that the Sox? In what aspect of the game do they have the advantage?

Anonymous said...

What's the chance of Hughes returning to the rotation now?

Greg Cohen said...

They'll give him another start or two, but after that if he still can't get anyone out, Hughes will go back into the rotation.

daneptizl said...

They've faced us with their team at full force every time, while we're winning like we have while at not one point in the season being at full force. Our bullpen is already starting to get better and it'll improve even more once Bruney and Marte come back. Nady also helps with the lefties.

JC said...

Girardi didn't say Wang would make his next scheduled start. He left it wide open. He just said, "Someone will be out there in five days."

Greg Cohen said...

I completely disagree, to me the Sox are by far a better team. The Yankees are at pretty much full strength right now and they're getting beat, and beat fairly easily. Marte and Bruney would not have factored in either of these games.

Dane, do the Yankees have a better bullpen? No. Starting staff? No. Bench? No.

Maybe the Yankees' lineup is better, but their starters are doing a hell of a job of making it look like the opposite is true.

How can you say we don't have a better starting staff? What makes theirs better? I'll give you the bullpen for now but other than that I think they are very close teams and for some reason the Yankees don't play well against them.

Greg Cohen said...

OK fine, the Yanks might have the slight edge in the starting rotation, however, when they play each other the Sox pitchers always outpitch the Yanks starter of the day.

Dan the dope. How'd your Posada do tonight?

Marte? ROFLMAO, you're absolutely clueless. Nady? Even more funny, a career .260 hitter is going to help.

Since we are talking baseball and not your RELIGIOUS beliefs about your faith in the Yankees.....the top 5 reasons Cashman should be the GM are......tick tock tick tock.

Maybe you atheistic humanists should concentrate more on FACTS and SCIENCE and not your feelings and opinions about the Yankees or anything else for that matter. Hypocrites. Its amazing what liars you are. YE SHALL BE AS GODS!

Beckett has been pitching well lately but that doesn't make him a better pitcher, Dice-K has been dreadful which pretty much matches up with Burnett but Burnett still has better numbers, Joba is better than Lester so far this year, Pettite matches up with Penny, and the only thing they have is Wakefield right now but I think if Hughes gets the job that will change so tell me, Greg, how do they have a better staff?

Mike said...

OK then I agree with you but that can easily change and I think it will.

Mike said...

And the Red Sox bullpen is better but guys like Aceves and Coke have been doing their jobs pretty well and once Bruney comes back and Robertson gets more experience I really think this bullpen can be a force by the second half. But maybe I'm just being too optimistic.

daneptizl said...

We've had our best two pitchers (Joba/CC) pitch twice in the seven games, while they've had their 2 pitch 4x. They've also had that going for them.

As for Anon, you're a silly guy.

Anonymous said...

Dane CC hasn't faced the Red Sox yet. Not once. Which is why I think we're all getting a little carried away here.

Greg Cohen said...

That doesn't mean anything. They're still beating everything else we throw out there. Does a Yankee starter even have a quality start against Boston this year?

JC said...

I think Joba's first start was a quality one.

But that's it. So far, they've really whopped us around good. Kinda embarrassing, really.

Greg Cohen said...

Nah I just checked it... Pettitte gave up three earned in six innings in the game that Ellsbury stole home.

Joba only lasted 5.1 innings in his start.

Greg Cohen said...

What do you guys expect from CC tomorrow?

Mike said...

We haven'te thrown our best out there Greg that means a lot considering we've faced theirs twice.

Greg Cohen said...

Anyone the Sox has thrown out has beaten the Yanks, Lester, Beckett, Wakefield, Masterson. In fact, the best offensive game they had came against Beckett.

Mike said...

Like I said the Red Sox have played a lot better than the Yankees in the games they have played, but that doesn't make them a better team overall and I'm sticking to that opinion. Have they been better head-to-head? Yes. Have they been better against every other team? No. The season is still fairly early and a lot can happen.

Mike said...

Not to mention if CC made 3 out of the 7 starts the way Beckett has I don't think we would even be talking about all of this.

Greg Cohen said...

"The season is still fairly early and a lot can happen."

That's true. By no means am I saying the season is over or they're doomed, or anything like that.

jeter and cano going 0-5 leaving 10men on base was just killer

Greg Cohen said...

That's true Anon.

Mike said...

I'm just as disappointed as anyone here but I can't concede how good the Yankees are because they can't beat the Red Sox (for now). I still envision these two teams meeting in the ALCS and having a hell of a series that will probably give me a heart attack.

Then again if CC goes out tomorrow and throws a dud I might throw my optimism out the window.

Greg Cohen said...

Mike, I still think the Yankees are a very good team, I just think the Sox are better. As for the ALCS thing, for now I don't want to see that.

Yea, CC getting hammered would really suck.

Mike said...

Greg, I respect your opinion or else I wouldn't read your blog, but obviously I disagree with you. The Red Sox are a better team against the Yankees currently but I don't think they're a better team overall. How do the Yankees take 4 of 6 from Texas but Boston loses 2 out of 3 to them at home? Baseball is a weird game and it will all eventually even out.

Greg Cohen said...

Fair enough, I guess we'll agree to disagree. I gotta write up this game summary now.. ugh... What do you think CC will do tomorrow?

Anonymous said...

What do I think? I think he'll throw 7 innings give up 3 or 4 and strike out 5. What do I hope? Complete game shutout to make a statement. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Either way it was fun debating with you man, have a good night.

Mike said...

Forgot to do the name thing, wish that was automatic.

If CC Sabathia loses to Brad Penny then I will agree with everyone we are in trouble against the red sox.

If we take the game tommorow we are back tied in first place. I feel even though it is only one victory that will help gain confidence in the team against the sox.

Also Boston has thrown there ace 3 times and CC has not faced the red sox.

Also this series misses Chamberlain. Joba will always battle the red sox and I highly doubt he will be out of the game after the 2nd inning. Even when he pitched in Fenway this year he didn't have his best stuff and battled and got the team to the 6th inning and set them up to win the game until Mo blow the save.

Greg Cohen said...

Later Mike, good discussion.

Anon, tomorrow is very important. CC has to go out and pitch a great ballgame. Another thing is it would be nice for the Yankees to give CC a few early runs.

daneptizl said...

I don't see how us facing their 2 best pitcher 5/7 times while they face our 2 best 2/7 times doesn't matter... you want your best pitchers pitching the tougher games...

Mike B. said...

Fascinating thread....

I'll hold off commenting on many of the things appearing here, but I will say that I tend to agree with Will concernig Girardi.

Just one win, please....

Mike

Greg Cohen said...

It's doesn't matter because I'm not convinced they would make a difference. Joba already has gotten beat by Boston, giving up four runs, and the other game he pitched well but lasted just 5.1 innings. And I don't know what to expect from CC. If he throws a gem tonight I may start to believe it matters.

Also, as far as the pitchers the Sox throw at us, that really doesn't matter, because the Yanks haven't been able to hit any of them. The best game they've had offensively came against the Sox ace. On the other hand they were shut down by Justin Masterson.

The bottom line is they have to win, regardless of pitching matchups, injuries, etc.
