News & Notes

- Joba Chamberlain has only thrown one pitch against the Mets in his career and he allowed a run on two hits, and struck out two.

- In five starts Livan Henandez is 0-3, with a 6.37 ERA. He's put up similar numbers at Yankee Stadium where he's 0-2, with a 6.55 ERA in two starts.

He face the Yankees once last year and went allowed 5 runs and 13 hits in 6 innings pitched in a no decision.

- Peter Abraham is reporting that Johnny Damon is out for "assorted reasons." I don't really know what that means, but Damon did say he felt he was going to pass out in the field yesterday, and thinks it could have something to do with a concussion he had five years ago. I'd take that with a grain of salt. He'll probably be in the lineup tomorrow.

- Also from Pete a little bad news about Xavier Nady. Here's what he had to say:
Sounds like Xavier Nady is still a ways off. “Good days and bad days,” he said. X did not sound particularly confident in his ability to throw.
Stick around and discuss the game

I guess the Sox realy are in our heads..

hahaha it's been fixed... My bad.

why no Damon tonight?

Greg Cohen said...

2-for-13 against Hernandez for his career.

Anonymous said...

i think you meant one inning for joba against the mets in his career. is that right greg?

Greg Cohen said...

lol yes.

Greg Cohen said...

It's been a long day... and I had a few too many at lunch.

Anonymous said...

now thats the spirit greg.. after a series like the last one i think all of us had a few too many since last night

Rob S said...

Hey greg and crew,

Ever since I got back from my Boston trip tuesday night seeing them take a 7-0 beating, I have been watching but trying not to at the same time. The way I look at how the Sox have dominated us ... we have 2 months till we face them again. On top of that only 2 have been at home when we were struggling. Also I have this wierd feeling that if it comes down to it this year, we will get the last laugh on boston. Next time we face them we should have bruney/marte back and possibly another solid reliever. Also, Wang/Hughes combo will be sorted out by then too. We just didn't get the big hits or good pitching. To me its a wonder how 2 of them were 1 run games.

I love this team, we don't make many errors, the mental ones have been just swisher as of late. We have passion, please do not doubt this, they just had gotten the best of us and we just wanted out of Boston. Plus I got this weird feeling ARod is going to go on a TEAR.

Go Yankees!!!

Go Get em Joba(calling 10Ks 7IP)
AROD (2-4 2run HR, 3RBIs)

Yanks win 6-4

Greg Cohen said...

Nothing wrong with a little optimism, thanks for that Rob.

Robbie Cano .. Dont Ya Know !!!

That was a shot ...

Will said...

i have no tv as you know, so listening to john and suzie. so bad. anyway, how do the seats look, are the richy rich fags in their seats this time?

Will said...

what the hell is the problem between posada and joba?

Anonymous said...

There's everything wrong with optimism.

The problem bw posada and *insert any pitchters name*, is, of course, POSADA. He has this problem with EVERY pitcher. He is a terrible catcher. It is so obvious its pitiful.

daneptizl said...

Come on Joba... this shouldn't be happening against THIS lineup... just throw some decent strike...

Will said...

these two should rent a convention hall.

JC said...

Throw freakin' strikes!! Holy shit!

This team is painful to watch right now.

Will said...

bring in Veras and get it over with.

Woodism said...

disgraceful

JC said...

Three walks and two hit batters....

The Mets just scored two runs without even getting a freakin' hit!

Pathetic.

Anonymous said...

How many friggin pitchers from HOFers to nobodies have come thru the yankees organization in the last 8 years and when they come here they turn into a different pitcher when they step on the mound?

All these DIFFERENT pitchers some of them who refused to throw to Posada but the one CONSTANT in the last 8 years is WHO??????????

Easy answer: The catcher JORGE POSADA.

As usual you hate FACTS.

Anonymous said...

Another game given away because of JORGE POSADA. This could only happen in the Yankees organization. Not only does Cashman have starters who should be relievers, relievers who should be starters but he has 7 1B/DH and some of these players should be working for Waste Management. Pathetic.

JC said...

Anon, you stupid asshole....

What about all the great winning teams Posada caught? '99, '00 they won World Series and he was the primary catcher.

He caught David Wells' perfect game and David Wells called him the best catcher he's ever pitched to.

He's not the best catcher, but he's not causing pitching problems.

Will said...

i cant stand sterling, god damn it. "your on the mark texiera". please freaking get killed in a car crash. he ruins every home run with his stupid repetitive "it is high its far" crap. learn to call a game. jesus.

Rob S said...

A Text Message From Teixiera !!

Thats where I normally sit out in the bleachers .. crappp ..

Is it just me or do those fly balls that seemed to be forever going over the wall at our new ballpark seem to be now dying right at the wall? Is there a force field up or something? LOL

Will said...

* skills self *

its like sterling can't see the stupid ball. he calls plays based only on what the payers are doing which is why he gets fooled all the time. please get swine flu!

Greg Cohen said...

Hey people, I'm a little busy right now doing some stuff while watching the game.... All I want to say is that Mark Teixeira is a beast. Be back soon.

Greg Cohen said...

Oh, and Joba has to stop trying to be so fine. This lineup isn't good. Challenge them.

daneptizl said...

I got you Greg.... take aalllll the time you need.

JC said...

Joba is killing me with these walks.

FIVE walks in four innings. It's just totally unacceptable. Big-league pitchers should be able to throw goddamn strikes!

JC said...

Now we're gonna need to use our pen for five innings or so.

Joba needs to go out and pitch at least one more inning. I don't care how many pitches he has. He did it to himself.

daneptizl said...

Swisher man... gotta get out for some more reps in the OF before the game...

Anonymous said...

TOMKO SUCKS ASS

wnylibrarian said...

Okay, I've had enough of assistant manager Jorge Posada. Everyone is a roadrunner (they stick out their tongues: meep meep and they're gone). Every...EVERY 0-2 pitch is a curve inside (and you wonder why Boston beats us). Joba's venting to Molina. Farnsworth didn't get a long with Posada. Randy Johnson didn't get along with Posada. It's time for this pseudo assistant manager to be cut!

crossfire said...

Swisher is a horrible fielder. Just friggin' horrible. He is killing us in the field.

I am quickly losing patience in Joba's ability to be a starter because he simply does not know how to throw strikes. Four innings sucks. Makes him an early candidate for goat horns.

daneptizl said...

Thank you... there was no reason to have Tomko here i place of Melancon... hopefully he gets here soon enough.

crossfire said...

Our bullpen is dog shit.

Hey Greg WTF is your problem you fuckign asshole hypocrite? JC just called me a stupid asshole and I did nothing. What did you do about it? You stupid fuckcing pathetic little hypocrite demoncrab.

"What about all the great winning teams Posada caught? '99, '00 they won World Series and he was the primary catcher.

He caught David Wells' perfect game and David Wells called him the best catcher he's ever pitched to.

He's not the best catcher, but he's not causing pitching problems."

Are you kidding me you? All the great teams Posada caught? The one year? What about the other 10 years? Is this all you fuckcign news media educated idiots preach is APARTHEID? You pick the one ridiculous example with half-truths and use it to overthrow the majority? Are you born this stupid or did the news mafia teach you this?

David Wells? What about Randy Johnson? What about EVERY pitcher shaking Posada off? What about Posada's ERA vs. Molina? What about 25 pitchers coming here over 10 years and NONE of them succeeding? Do you have a brain in your head?

And, here it is again, Tomko going 0-2 on people and can't put them away. HE LOOOKS JUST LIKE JOBA. Joba and Tomko are totally DIFFERENT people. But the one CONSTANT is WHOM????????? JORGE POSADA.

Anonymous said...

Dont waste your time wnylibrarian, Posada is the greatest ever to these guys even though FACTS prove otherwise. Every pitcher that comes here shakes off Posada. Posada SUCKS at calling a game. The proof is in the pudding. Posada is and has been the problem.

Anonymous said...

I can't believe they still can't get it through Joba's head that he doesn't have to strike out EVERY SINGLE BATTER

The news mafia teaches you this. You got converted in 10 seconds. YOu were born again. Of course, jsut the wrong way. You're just like the faggots. Just like all Popes.

Posada's career ERA and Runs allowed avg. are hilarious.

His lifetime Ravg 4.70

Ravg....1998 was his only good year 3.99. All others were above 4.

2003 to this year:

They are:

2003 4.43
2004 5.01
2005 5.17
2006 4.71
2007 4.80
2008 5.03

AND DRUM ROLL PLEASE........

2009 6.72 !!!

No wonder we can't beat good teams or win in the playoffs. Taht's because of JORGE POSADA.

From 1997 to 2009 his RAVG is 4.86. Absolutley atrocious.

Anonymous said...

ROFLMAO

In 2009, JORGE POSADA has a 6.72 Run Average. This is with our best starting pitching staff in how many years?

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gee I can't figure out why we can't beat good teams! DUH.

I've turned off the game due to my extreme frustration and desire to want to punch a hole in my wall.

I'm now watching the Stanley Cup Finals.

Hopefully I turn on the Yanks later and see better things. (But I won't count on it.)

What did coke do wrong that Joe G is bringing in MO in a tied game when he sux in these situations ... we will never be able to get in Joe G's head but sometimes i would like to smack him right up aside the head ...

Greg Cohen said...

It's my blog I'll post whatever I want, but when did I mention politics?

wnylibrarian said...

Ah, Mo is coming in the 8th. Not Joba, because Joba is in the rotation. That is really working out well, isn't it?

Anonymous said...

I FUCKING KNEW IT MO SSUX COCK IN THESE SITUATIONS .. FUCK JOE G

a7tex said...

i dont understand why he went to mo

Greg Cohen said...

Why the hell would he take Coke out of this game? What a stupid stupid move. He did nothing but retire people. They fucking deserve to lose.

Will said...

bullpen is total crap. and the starters are horribly inconsistent. but the bullpen is really craptastic.

Anonymous said...

Because Joe G is a retard when it comes to a bullpen and how certain guys handle certain situations. We all know MO sucks in tie games and why bring him in to hurt his confidence again? Cause Joe G is a moron ...

Anonymous said...

Will I am pretty sure Coke did a good job the past 2 nights so not the whole bullpen .. Coke has gotten us out of some serious jams the past 2 nights .. but to bring in MO Joe G is STUPID

Anonymous said...

Not hard to believe. Mo sucks. You guys dont listen and dont get it. You live in 1998. Mo is part of the problem. Mo is not a closer. He has nothing. He throws 88 mph. Go fucckign home Rivera. You're a loser who started this 2 months ago and hell you started it back in 2001. Just STFU and go home. LOSER.

crossfire said...

I hope Mo rebounds from this because he has been horrible this year.

Score in the bottom of the 8th because we won't in the 9th if we're down.

Blame Joe all you want but as much as I love him, Mo now wears the goat horns again.

Anonymous said...

And, congratulations JORGE POSADA you now have given up 8 runs this game which is above your 6.72 average before the game started. I guess PosaDUH thinks the higher the better.

Anonymous said...

didn't river have 39 saves last year and an era under 2...10 years after 1998

Anonymous said...

Really, Anon? You're putting this on Posada? Really?

crossfire said...

Any Yankee fan that calls Mo a loser is a total fucking asshole.

crossfire said...

Funny, I don't recall Posada throwing a single pitch. You don't know shit about baseball anon.

Anonymous said...

there goes the man crush again...

crossfire said...

No man crush, but at least I'm not an ignorant moron like you. I bet you live in your mother's basement.

Anonymous said...

sorry crossfire..i wasn't talking to you...i am a different anon..talking about the other one...lol

crossfire said...

Oh... sorry. The other anon is a moron.

Anonymous said...

Yup, I am the moron. You got me.

Another game where Posada gives up TONS of runs. Posada was the starting catcher for every fuckign game this year where we gave up HUGE runs.

Posada gives up 6.72 runs per 9 IP
Molina gives up 4.14 runs per 9 IP

This is what Posada is good at.....calling a terrible game and giving up as many runs as possible. This is called HISTORY. You dont' like it? So what.

I am so glad that I am the moron. And, you are so smart.

Anonymous said...

Didn't Rivera just BLOW another game? Didn't Rivera do the SAME THING LAST YEAR? And, the year BEFORE? And, in the 2001 WORLD SERIES?

Mariano Rivera choke artist since 2001.

Hey Mo, good thing you think "you have good enough stuff to get people out." Nice walk to moron. That lead to the loss

Anonymous said...

Interesting statistics, but it's not a causal relationship. I remember when I watched my first baseball game too.

Anonymous said...

Woo Hoo about to lose again because of Joe G's mismanagement of the bullpen. Coke was doing fine, Mariano stinks in tie games. We all know this, but Joe instead of listening to what that situation has turned out to before ignores it and fucks us once again.

Rich said...

PLEASE JOHNNY!!!

Anonymous said...

so who else do you have a man crush on...we have established posada and rivera...anyone else?...

Anonymous said...

Yes, the great Damon, does nothign when it counts AS USUAL. And, he swung at ball 4. Cashman's guys all the way......to the cellar.

Anonymous said...

Dont get mad at me because Posada sucks and gives up 6.72 runs per 9 IP. You love him because you're stupid.

Greg Cohen said...

Wow what an insult to A-Rod. I bet he strikes out.

Rich said...

now is the god damn time to prove yourself in the clutch arod

Anonymous said...

Dude, have you been WATCHING at all this season? Damon doesn't hit when it counts? You, sir, are a douche.

Will said...

Fair enough Anon about Coke, he's done a great job the past couple nights, way beyond what I expect to see from him. I think the issue is that unless the Y have a 3 run lead late, or one of two or three pitchers is coming out of the pen, we're all biting our nails knowing how bad it can get. Basically there is no confidence in the BP.

To be fair to the BP the starters are in the middle of an epic collapse, with only CC pitching a decent game recently, and this puts unfair pressure on the pen. That said the pen does have an extra starter in the there (hughes) and even when the starters are pitching well going to the pen causes cardiac arrest when its a one run game and the opponent is anything better than Detroit.

Really I don't see how they can make the playoffs, much less the world series without getting another reliable middle relief pitcher, so Mo doesnt have to come in situations like this and Aceves and Coke dont have to pitch every other day. I continue to feel shocked that we dont even hear rumors of the Yankees looking for a late middle reliever.

And why is Veras still on the roster? because they don't want to eat his contract? insanity, he has no business pitching in the majors. Put him on wavers, no sane club will pick him up. They can make up the loses on his contract with one night of hotdog and garlic fries sales at the stadium.

Anonymous said...

And, that was 6.72 runs BEFORE the 8 he gave up today. ROFLMAO.

PosaDUH is an all-star in your eyes.

Lets all watch another Cashman player choke. His name is AROD.

Yup, the biggest choke artist EVER got saved by another choke artist, Castillo.

What a terrible hit. Perfect pitch right down the middle to cream and Arod pops it up. Pathetic. This team has nothing.

Yup, the Red Sox, the Phillies or any playoff team will drop that ball.....

No consulation, another pathetic game for the Yankees. Castillo saved Mo, Posada, and Arod from another embarassment. Well there is always tomorrow Yankees...you can choke it away then..

Anonymous said...

see ya tomorrow anon...we can hear all about posada and rivera again...

lol will the ratings have to be up though because its comical to listen to haha but what a FUCKING ENDING WOW

Will said...

could the mets and yankees make a game look any uglier? that was a fitting cap to both teams getting hammered by their division rivals. neither wanted to win, it was a battle to lose.

Anonymous said...

lmfao we deserved a break for once. Been nothing but crap lately.

Anonymous said...

Just think if Posada only gives up 7 runs tomorrow it will be better than his 2009 average. Optimism baby optimism.

a7tex said...

i dont care if we win on luck every day, hey a wins a win

crossfire said...

If Castillo throws home, Tex never makes it.

But instead of throwing home, he compounds the error by inexplicably throwing the ball to second.

What an idiot.

But I'll take a win any way we can get one.

Poor anon is disappointed in the Yankee win. Go cry yourself to sleep jackass. lol

Will said...

the only thing that sucks more than watching the yankees is watching the mets. that was pathetic, Joba walked them a handful of runs and they couldnt win.

Glad you said stupid twice Greg because he was stupid twice. I watched it again and there is absolutely no way Tex would have scored if he hadn't thrown it to second. As it was Tex just got home, albeit easily, as the ball was arriving at the plate.

Oh man... the mets fans have got to be puking about now. lol

I'll take that win but these personnel decisions are terrible. I'm not going to mention Mo in tie games. I just want to know why Swisher is still getting rewarded with playing time, does he have compromising pictures of Girardi?

Anonymous said...

Here is a certain well known Yankee's sportswriter's response to my email to him regarding Posada's atrocious catchign abilities especially his ability to call a game and his RUNS allowed.

I emailed him and showed him Posada's career RUNS ALLOWED and his response is below.

In particular, pay attention to the, "yankee pitchers dont particularly like throwing to him is NO SECRET" part. Pathetic!

"What are you going to do? They got stuck signing him to a four-year, $52.4 million deal in his late 30s so he wouldn’t leave for the Mets. He’s really a DH but you can’t use him there as long as Matsui ($13M) is still on the team. They know the pitchers don’t particularly like throwing to him, that’s no secret. But the theory is that his switch-hitting offense makes him more valuable than other catchers. Well, it *made* him more valuable. That’s the trouble with paying “true Yankees” based upon their past performance instead of what they’ll actually produce."

a7tex said...

and i thought swisher looked lost in the field latley!

Anonymous said...

HAH i just went on amazin avenue and one fan says "Yanks fans need to stop acting like they won that game.."

I was like hahaha we did sux to be a mets fan eh?

bigger chokers than us man thats badd

a7tex said...

Ok fine but the met fans gotta admit they DEFINATLEY LOST THAT GAME (which technically gives us the win)

Anonymous said...

your write that response yourself anon?...

Will said...

a humiliating mets loss isn't quite as good as a yankee win, but it sure makes the recent string of losses a little easier to take. mets so suck its hilarious.

What a great win especially because it was a against the Mutts.

Also nice job by Phil Coke and David Robertson!

And if Swisher continues to play this bad in the outfied it will be time to use Gardy more in center and Melky in right.
