News & Notes

- CC Sabathia threw a bullpen session today. He threw 30 pitches and threw all of his pitches at full strength. CC said he felt great and will make his start on Friday.

- At this point last season the Yankees were just one game worse at 37-33, and six games out of first place.

- Neither pitcher has ever faced the other team. The only batter in the game who has faced on of the opposing pitchers is Nate McLouth, who is 0-for-3 against Joba Chamberlain.

- Joba is 1-1, with a 2.45 ERA in six interleague games - five starts.

- Cody Ransom was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. To make room on the roster the Yankees designated Angel Berroa for assignment.

- Xavier Nady will begin his rehab stint for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre tonight. Make sure you check out my minor league report after the game to see how he did.

I thought Kay said that Swisher finally had his bum ass benched?

Emmanuel said...

Son of a bitch, Kay just said they decided to put him back in the lineup.

Greg Cohen said...

Yea, he was a late "addition" to the lineup.

What's wrong with Swisher? The dude works the count. Sure his BA isn't high, but that's not part of his game. When judging Swisher, look at his OBP, not his BA.

Also, I feel a win today. Not only because it's mine and Hughes' birthday, but because Joba is great on the road.

Berroa DFA!!!

JC said...

So can this pathetic offense muster up a run tonight?

JC said...

Maybe the better question is.... Can they muster up a HIT?

Greg Cohen said...

This team really can't buy a hit.

By the way, if you haven't voted yet please vote in the poll on the right sidebar.

Mario said...

& the braves score, 1-0, game over, cause we can't get a runner to 2nd base let alone score a fucking run...

crossfire said...

Seriously, WTF is wrong with this team? They can't friggin' buy a hit.

Somebody needs to give this team a kick in the ass. They are lifeless.

Where have you gone Paul O'Neill?

Emmanuel said...

How that horrible fucking call looms huge right now

You have to laugh because Cashman is getting exactly what he deserves and so aren't the chumps that run this team. Pathetic baseball team that they have assembled. When you sign multiple late 30 year olds to 4 year deals, 30+ players to 10 year deals and have 8 1B/DH then you absolutely deserve it.

This team hasn't hit properly in 5-7 years. And, Cashman has done what about it? Nothing. Dont' waste your time quoting all the runs they score. I am talking about real hitting.

Emmanuel said...

Sidebar, anyone else think Joba looks like a pretty good hitter at the plate, he's made more solid contact than A Rod in his first 2 AB's/

So who gets the Yankees going? Young guys. Gardner and Cervelli. Did you see Cervelli emotions when he was rounding the bags. What a stark contrast compared to that loser Posada who can't even run a strikeout out. Posada is a loser. He is a detriment to this team. It is so obvious to see this every time Cervelli catches its amazing.

Do you know how the chumps that run this organization will reward Cervelli? By starting Posada tomorrow, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Losers just like Posada.

One last thing, everytime Arod is up with men on base, he is ALWAYS down 0-2 or 1-2. Always. That is a huge problem. Arod is another cancer just like Posada. Great going Cashman.

Greg Cohen said...

That was a big inning for the Yanks, the big homer by Cervelli and than the two-run single. Huge hits for this team. Now Joba has to continue throwing the ball well and get this team back in the win column.

crossfire said...

You sound like a real fun guy to hang around with. I bet you bitch, moan and complain 24/7. LOL

Anonymous said...

You sound like a real fun guy to be around. I bet you think positive and are positive 24/7. LOL. "YEA, hath God said." You probably dont even understand the obvious there.

You're just pissed because Cervelli makes Posada looks like the piece of shit that he is. And, you hate being wrong. All *blank* are like this. They all get in an emotional panic over facts.

Greg Cohen said...

Anon, the Yankees are winning, stop your bitching for five minutes.

Anonymous said...

maybe they are now but possibly not for long ... once again

Anonymous said...

All because Joba can't field his position and make routine plays. Pathetic. Two 1-2 hits but the real damage was the inability to make a simple routine play. This team continually finds ways to lose or possibly lose.

Greg Cohen said...

Glad this game isn't at Yankee Stadium or it would be 5-4 Braves.

Anonymous said...

Does Phil Coke ever do his job? Just another useless Yankee reliever who can't do a simple job. And, Joba should go to the pen because he is only good for 5-6 innings which is not good enough.

Anonymous said...

Are we taking bets to see if this team blows another game they should have won because of a horrible BP with pitchers that can't execute basic plays?

Greg Cohen said...

How didn't Phil Coke do his job? If this was the Bronx, fine, because it's 5-4, but in Atlanta it was just a sac-fly and the Yankees still have the lead.

Anonymous said...

What? Are you kidding me? He's a friggin lefty reliever and he's called in to get lefties out, not give up deep shots. And, he let an inherited runner score. He failed. Its ridiculous. For once, do your friggin job Yankee reliever. How about that?

And, Cano is just another dumb Yankee player. Just like the veterans like Posada/Jeter/Arod have taught him. He's swinging at garbage for no reason and hitting into DP's or potential DP's.

Who the hell on this team would you want to come up in big game to win it? No one. This team has no one that can do the job consistently. Which is exactly why they are a mediocre team.

Anonymous said...

Get Bruney out of there right now. Another dumb Yankee reliever who comes in and walks people for no friggin reason. What a complete joke. Go sit down.

Greg Cohen said...

Can you shut up?

Anonymous said...

Another walk? Pathetic. Absolutely inexcusable. Good thing this is the Braves. Imagine if this was a good hitting team.

Greg Cohen said...

Bruney doesn't have it tonight. Get Mo in there.

Anonymous said...

Can I shut up? Why because I was right and you and the chumps that run this team are wrong? I told you to get him out of there after the first walk. He doesn't have command of his pitches and this team can't afford that at all. There is no excuse for walking 2 people when you're up 6-3. NO EXCUSES FOR IT. 100% complete failure just like Coke and Joba.

Greg Cohen said...

No, because you're annoying me.

Anonymous said...

its the stache !

rpb said...

lol
just turned the game on ESPN while I'm in DC this week.
All I have to do is read the comments and I have my re-cap.

thanks big at bat here

rpb said...

Anonymous said...

that cutter was nasty !

Greg Cohen said...

He made Johnson look foolish.

rpb said...

lucky break that should have been caught

another break

Mario said...

capt clutch fails again.....

Greg Cohen said...

Guys, can't you just be happy they're winning?

Greg Cohen said...

Big hit by Damon.

Rob S said...

me i dont give a crap how they win the just need to win ! lol

P.S - please save runs for tomorrow dont blow your load tonight guys lol and then not score shit tomorrow

Unknown said...

Now this is how the Yankees should be playing every game. Big hits with runners on base and home runs here and there. Also the pitching is holding up starters and relief. If they can keep doing this every game we can consider this a dangerous team.....Mo is on deck?! lol I want to see him hit.

Greg Cohen said...

Geeez... Mo has to hit.

Don't swing.

Woodism said...

this is classic

Greg Cohen said...

lol... He put a nice swing on it, hopefully he didn't pull anything.

Anonymous said...

Jeter = LOL, what a pathetic swing with runner on 3rd less than 2 outs.

Mo hits the ball harder than Jeter.

Yes, I can be happy they are winning but this is the Braves, ok? This garbage will not cut it vs. good teams.

Unknown said...

Damn. I thought that was going for extra bases...I jumped when he hit that! That was the icing on the cake Mo batting.

Greg Cohen said...

Who cares about that right now? They're playing the Braves and they're winning, that's all the matters.

rpb said...

Mo looks like he did in the WS against the Braves

Unknown said...

Damn. Mo was nasty and he hasn't pitched in a week.

Greg Cohen said...

Yea, he looked great. Good win for the Yanks tonight.

Unknown said...

This is the kind of win they needed. Hopefully this win will start making them climb back up the mountain. Great game all around today.

rpb said...

now I will listen to Sterling on MLB.com for the highlights

good win

thanks for the re-cap guys!!!

JC said...

Ahhh, yes.... A win!

Joba was good tonight. And Mariano was NASTY. I wouldn't worry about Bruney, he hadn't pitched in quite some time.

Good win. Even A-Rod had a clutch hit.

Hopefully this is the start of something good.

Anonymous said...

Bruney has a rough inning. Weird at bat against Kotchman I dont think he throw 1 fastball. He looked rusty not a big deal.
