Wang Headed For Season-Ending Surgery

According to Bryan Hoch, Chien-Ming Wang will need season-ending arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder. The surgery will take place tomorrow.

Tough break for Wang and the Yankees.

Here's an update on some of the specifics of the surgery from Peter Abraham:
Wang needs a tear in his capsule repaired, apparently. The capsule is the soft-tissue membrane. Typically, the capsule is tightened in surgery.
He also said that Wang would likely miss some of next season as well. Makes you wonder if you'll ever seen Wang in Pinstripes again.

It'll be interesting to see who their 5th starter will be next season. Big move or stay with an in house option. I just hope they don't bring Pettitte back.

So far they will have Hughes, Joba, AJ and CC.

I noticed they started Zach Kroenke in Triple-A yesterday, and he pitched four scoreless innings. I wonder if they're trying to stretch him out and eventually call him up as a starter.

Nah.... it's because they don't have starters since Mitre went up the Yanks... now maybe they do get Sheets.

Tough break? Doesn't that overlook what has happened here? Wang didn't have anything wrong with his shoulder when he had to have hip surgery. He didn't have anything wrong with his shoulder during spring training. It wasn't until he had an era > a google and still wasn't back to full strength that cashman girardi and the box car of clowns who call themselves coaches insisted he start.

Now do we think Wang hurt his shoulder eating with chopsticks, or was he over throwing to make up for his weak legs and trying to save face against the likes of Boston?

Chalking it up to a tough break I think let's the yankee tards off the hook much too easily. They single handedly destroyed Wang's season. Someone on the Yankees should at minimum explain what happened, if just for the laugh of hearing their weasly excuses.

They screwed up when they told him not to work on his legs in the offseason. He didn't have proper leg strength this season and compensated by overthrowing which probably cause this injury. It's clearly the Yankees fault, but this is still a tough break, especially for Wang.

Let's hope the Yankee medical staff doesn't give Wang any expert rehab suggestions after this surgery :)

I think this is it for Wang with the Yankees. I hope we get Washburn or maybe someone else that has a year left, Washburn is a boras client so he would be a rental.
