A's Release the Giambino

The Oakland A's released former Yankees Jason Giambi today (hat-tip to WasWatching.com). His body has quickly broken down, and this year he stopped hitting all together.

He was hitting just .193/.332/.364 with 11 HR and 40 RBI in 83 games this season for Oakland. It's looks like this could be the end of the road for The Big G.

Another example of why not to use steroids boys and girls

He was a loyal Yankee though. I would say sign him, but thinking about it.. all he could be is a pintch hitter for us. And it would take away a job from someone who can play the field and run for us.

Giambino! I sure miss that guy but like Greg says I think its the end of the road for him. He was a great person who made bad choices but people on the team loved him, he wasn't the perfect ball player but he was the perfect teammate it seems. I hope he gets one more chance somewhere else.

I personally liked the signing when the Yanks got him. But overall he turned out to be a disappointment. He did have some nice pop in his bat when healthy but he never was the same hitter as he was with the A's and his defense, especially his throwing was atrocious.

Yet I still always liked him. There is a good quality about him. I think I probably gave him a lot of credit for being a stand up guy instead of a bullshit liar when he got caught doing steroids.

Yeah, he cheated but at least he didn't compound it with looking like a friggin' liar too.

Just watch the line of bullshit Ortiz throws out there this weekend.
