CC Looks To Reverse Fortunes in his Hometowm

From Mark Feinsand:
As a child, CC Sabathia would come to the Oakland Coliseum to root on his hometown A's and Raiders, forming some of the fondest memories of his youth.

His visits to the Coliseum as an adult haven't been nearly as much fun for Sabathia, who Tuesday night will try to beat the A's on their home turf for the first time in more than six years.

"I must have done something bad here as a kid, because I have some bad karma going on in here," Sabathia said with a smile.

"Hopefully we can change that."

Sabathia is 1-4 with a 7.12 ERA in eight career starts in Oakland, and since he beat the A's here on July 30, 2003, the big lefthander is 0-4 with an 8.54 ERA in five starts. That stretch includes one of the worst performances of his career, a 2 1/3-inning, eight-run outing on July 25, 2005.

...

"I don't understand why I don't pitch better here," Sabathia said. "The first couple times, I'd get all amped up being back for the first time, but it's just another start now."

CC also talked about his success just across the bay in San Francisco. In two starts in San Fran he's 2-0, with a 1.59 ERA. In 17 innings he's allowed just 3 ER on 9 hits, walked 2, and struck out 16.

Like CC said of his struggles in Oakland, "hopefully (he) can change that."

Predict CC's line tonight in the comments section below. I think he gets off the schnide tonight. I'll say 8 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 K.
