News & Notes

- At 103-59 the Yankees had the best record in all of baseball. And at 57-24 they had the best home record in baseball as well.

- The Yankees have no won a postseason series since 2004, the team they beat that year was, you guessed it, the Twins.

- The Yankees were 7-0 against the Twins this season. Minnesota has not won a game in the Bronx since 7/4/07.

- In five postseason starts CC Sabathia is 2-3, with a 7.92 ERA. I think it's time to put those bad memories to bed. CC has made 28 starts against the Twins in his career and is 13-8, with a 3.05 ERA in those games. He faced them once this year, and in 7 innings allowed a run on three hits, walked one, and struck out three on his way to a win. In his last 7 starts against the Twins, he's 6-1 with a 1.22 ERA.

- Brian Duensing has faced the Yankees once in his career. It came as a reliever and in 2.2 innings he allowed four earned runs on two hits, walked four, and struck out one.

- Since game 5 of the 2004 ALCS Alex Rodriguez is hitting .143 (8-for-56) with two doubles, a homer, an RBI, 10 walks, and 18 strikeouts. Like CC, it's time for Alex to put those bad memories behind him.

- Minnesota finished 17-4 to make up a seven game deficit in early September to overtake the Detroit Tigers and win the AL Central.

- Red Sox Nation's ESPN's Jayson Stark predicts that the Yankees will win this year's world series. I personally just think he's trying to enact the reverse-jinx. Here's all the predictions from the Red Sox Nation ESPN staff. Surprisingly, there's a whole lotta love for the Yanks.

- Vegas is also picking the Yanks.

- For more on the series ahead, you can check out my ALDS preview here.

- I will be in the Bronx tonight, but live chats for postseason games will begin on Friday. But for now enjoy this great YES Network video one more time, and enjoy the game. GO YANKEES!
