News & Notes
- The Yanks are 51-20 since the All-Star break. They've also won 64 of their last 89, and at 102-57 they have the best record in all of baseball they've locked up the division and the best record in baseball.

- In 14 career starts against the Rays, CC Sabathia is 7-2, with a 2.82 ERA. In Tampa he's 2-2, with a 4.25 ERA in 7 seven starts. And this season he's 0-1 with a 4.35 ERA against Tampa. Since August 8th, CC is 8-0, with a 1.62 ERA. In 72.1 innings pitched, he's allowed 13 ER on 46 hits, walked 19, and struck out 80. The Yankees are 10-0 in those games. He's going for 20 wins tonight, which would be the first time he's won 20 games in his career.

A strong finish would be nice.
Er.. Molina?
I would rather have CC hitting then Jose. Lets have no DH like the NL for today. LOL
For what reason is Jose Molina DHing tonight? I understand these games are meaningless, but c'mon!
Greg, where's the retro Rays logo?
Why is the game starting at 7:38? What the hell kind of time is 7:38?
I hope Teix is okay.
greg did u have problems with the site today? i couldnt log in from 3 till now
is CC kidden rite now
Nah I didn't. It upsets me to hear that though, but Blogger has a tendency to be a bit erratic.
its the 1st time it happened to me. but i noticed gmail and google were slow. they may have been updating.
c'mon on Big Slim, wtf are you doing out there.
Ahhh, that could be it. Damn it CC, at least make them earn it.
cc must be hurt.
Ugh, not the best way to head into the postseason for the big fella.
Holy crap horrible frackin' baseball here tonight. maybe ill play mlb o9 the show instead.
AHAHAHA. CC WONT GET 20! no CY YOUNG 4 U!
Jack you herb, nobody here cares about the Cy Young, and Greinke is winning it anyway. He's been by far the best pitcher in baseball this year.
Wow. On a positive note, CC's on my fantasy and those runs weren't Earned Runs, victory for me.
fantasy team.*
Oh that's right... ERA saved.
Greinke sucks.
I'm winning 11-4 in the final championship round I believe.
Felix Hernandez is winning the CY
POSADA PIECE OF SHIT! CANT CALL A GAME, SUCKS AT THE PLATE! FUCKING JORGGE
Oh lord, not this knucklehead.
Alright, they're starting to chip away.
To quote Buzz Lightyear,
"You are one strange sad little man."
...or something like that.
God Molina sucks.
Jose Molina sucks something awful.
Jose get the genetic short straw out of the 3 Molina brothers.
That does sound rather rude, but I stand behind my statements.
I cant spell tonight. Got*
dont you know the story?
LETS GO DEREK
Can Kay stop calling this game like it's game 7 of the ALCS. Stop trying so hard, Michael.
Wow, talk about a terrible tune-up.
well it is october...
not even watching the game, my hockey team raised some sort of BANNER tonight, couple old trophies on display, MOLINA DH, WTF, y not shelley duncan or i don't know the bat boy, Joe has such creativity...
Yanks look like theyre sleep-walking tonight. And to make things worse i have to listen to these HORRIBLE Rays announcers...
CC why
What a difference the
month of october makes for CC
Carten Charles Sabathia stop sucking the head, stroking the shaft and cupping the balls....NOW!
time to order a movie on demand.
dude that was rather descriptive, u need help.
Why on earth did Girardi leave CC in that long? What was he hoping to achieve? All he did, was drain what little confidence in his stuff he had left. We can only hope and pray this was a one-off and that he'll be able to bounce back next week. The only good news is that Jackson sucked just as bad for the Tigers.
the yankees always have a bad loss then come back with a vengeance, they did it so many times this season. just a little bump in the road tonight.
9 runs allowed....who's catching tonight? I dont even have to look to know who it is because it can only be ONE person and ONE person only. Jorge Posada.
So far this year Posada has given up 5.40 runs per 9 IP which is the HIGHEST in his career.
Lets see how he does in the playoffs.....
go back under your rock anon.
ok, game out of hand, empty the bench,
"go back under your rock anon."
Bingo, the up-to-date translation for this I can't handle facts so I will attack the messenger. Just like your loser father.
The funniest part about it is YOUR the evolutionist. You believe all life arose from lava and ROCKS accidentally. So it is YOU that needs to crawl back underneath the rock that YOU came from LITERALLY. Now, that is too funny for words!
Up to 11 runs now, so tell me Mr. EVILutionist and fact-hater, why is that when the Yankees give up double-digit runs it is Posada almost always the catcher? I got it! It must be because he is so good!
Man does Posada suck as a catcher...
did you eat paint chips as a child? your stupidity is amazing.
http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/p/posadjo01.shtml
I don't know. All those stats and I don't picture a bad catcher by them.
It's October and Sabathia has actually raised his career Oct ERA tonight even with the unearned runs. You can set your watch on him getting wild. I think that's 27 walks in 27 career Oct innings now. ERA over 8 and an Oct ERA higher every year in Oct than the year before. Truly amazing. This guy is as soft as they come.
Give Sabathia a chance, he may be able to turn it around.
Here is what the simple truth is: There is not one person on this yankee team who is the least bit intimidating to the opposition in Oct. They may win. Heck, they should win, but it won't be becuase they intimidate anyone. The opposition sees a bunch of guys who just don't get it done when it matters. That it truly a stunning statement about a Yankee team. Cashman needs to go. He's make a joke of this franchise with his high-priced, soft-as-shit roster.
BTW, did Tex get his 40th HR tonight? How abotu CC's 20th win? This is what this team has been reduced to. Chasing individual milestones while Boston rests guys and manages their roster all year to get ready to win in Oct. Amazing. I can't stand what's happened to my team? Seriously. Why do we root for these guys? We took so much pride in the way they did things, now it's a joke. We do not have any credibility left and we just make it worse and worse every year. It's a giant pyrmamid scheme and we are all the schmucks to keep it going. It's like rooting for Enron at this point. Again, they may win, but I don't really want to win this way.
Amazing what a meaningless loss does to Yankee fans... WOW
Those were some seriously absurd statements. I assume from a non-Yankee fan.
I have not the SLIGHTEST concerns about anything that happened in this game. All this proves is that 1) The Rays are completely classless, as is their joke of a manager. 2) The Rays are clutch. (/sarcasm). Where were they all year long when they were performing like the choke artist losers that they are?
BTW, did Tex get his 40th HR tonight? How abotu CC's 20th win? This is what this team has been reduced to. Chasing individual milestones while Boston rests guys and manages their roster all year to get ready to win in Oct.
What the hell are you talking about? "Reduced to"? What the frak does that mean? You're lost. Seriously, you HAVE to be a Red Sox fan. Saturday was going to be the scheduled "rest day" in the first place. Secondly, there's TWO FULL DAYS off after the season ends to rest. How much do you want to rest? A full week? Yeah, great plan, genius. Let's forget how to play baseball completely. One bad game that's competely meaningless and you're jumping off the bridge. rotfl.
Yeah... I'd much rather be the Red Sox who backed into the playoffs by losing 8 out of 10 games when the pressure was on. Shit... They tanked so hard that if Texas had done ANYTHING in the past two weeks they might very well be fighting to even make it. They've looked great these past TWO DAYS against the worst team in the AL (now that Texas clinched them a playoff spot for them) and you're giving them some sort of props for that. lmfao. Every big game the Sox played down the stretch they all folded like $3 bargin bin suits, and after a couple of meaningless wins against the barely AAA caliber Indians and you're acting like they're in prime playoff condition hahaha what a joke. Seriously, wtf is wrong with some people?
Seriously Lucky, I have no idea what you're talking about.
I'm talking about the pre-game writeup for this story that indicated that notes for the game were CC going for his 20th win and Tex going for his 40th HR. Who cares about that crap?
Yes the Red Sox slumped badly last week, but the did it while resting the majority of their lineup and using their normal starters just twice in 6 games.
Now that they are rested they are puting the starters back in and playing well, not that it matters much. Meanwhile, the Yankees are "going for it" by chasing individual stats and they have burned out Sabathia. He's now thrown more pitches in 2009 (3586) than he did in 2007 (3581), that first year he was supposedly abused so badly. I know he's thrown (a few) less innings, but pitchers don't throw innings. They throw baseballs, AKA pitches. Any MLB scout will tell you that's the number they monitor.
So now that he's up in that red zone again, he's suddenly wild and has that crazy "I'm scared" Sabathia October look in his eyes.
Yanks allowed this guy to pitch way too much in Aug and Sept, after the playoffs were all but a lock, so that he could make a run at 20 wins. For what?? Nothing, that's what.
And, again, in 2007 he had 7 days off before his last start and 8 days off before the playoffs, so don't tell me he was on fumes in Oct.
Oh, and how about Joba? His rules were designed to keep his arm strong for October, no? Well what the heck happened there? Now the spin is he's just tired out and will be fine next year? Are we not paying attention??! When you have a team with this kind of talent this in$ane payroll, and who essentially clinched the playoffs in July, you had damn well better have guys ready for Octoboer. The whole point is to get guys ready for the playoffs, Another misterable f'up by the Yankee management. And once again it stands in such stark contrast to the team in Boston who was willing to "embarass" themself for a weekend in the Bronx with a AAA team so that they could make sure they were ready in Oct.
THat is my point,.
Lucky, the Yankees have clinched the best record in baseball and the division, if they saw your comments they'd be laughing hysterically. They've accomplished all their team-based regular season goals. Now Girardi's job is to rest people, that's it. There is no difference between winning 102 games and 105. They lose one meaningless game and you go crazy. I cannot understand that.
You need to relax.
