With Hideki Matsui nearing a deal in LA, Halladay going to Philly, and Lackey in Beantown, the Yanks options are dwindling for them to make another big signing. They need to fill the DH spot, even if it's with a part time player. Here are options I've seen that make some sense.
Strictly DHs: Jim Thome, Vlad Guerrero, Jason Giambi (interesting...)
Can play elsewhere: Adam LaRoche, Nick Johnson, Mike Jacobs, Russell Branyan, Ryan Garko, Troy Glaus, Garrett Atkins
I know most of these guys go against the "Get younger and more athletic" philosophy of the Yankees, but these are just ideas, but they are options, and I think the Yanks should look at all of them. They could sign a guy to a one year deal and wait for Mauer- and then Posada at DH, or sign another DH next offseason. As I said there are a lot of options, and the Yanks need to look at all possibilities. As for pitchers...
Aroldis Chapman, Duchsherer, Kelvim Escobar, Jon Garland, Ben Sheets (even though they don't want to pay his pricetag), Todd Wellemeyer, Erik Bedard (??? maybe ???), Jarrod Washburn (he's listed on the FA List on MLB.com- does anyone have notes on him?).
Let's hope the Yanks can get at least one guy for both of these postions.
