Earlier, we heard about Mark Newman's screw up down in Tampa last night, but here's some good news about Yankees assistant GM Jean Afterman. It was announced today that she is being honored as one of Women in Sports and Events 2010 WISE Women of the Year.

Aftermanm, the Yanks' assistant GM since 2001, is probably best known by Yankees fans for being one of the major players in the Hideki Matsui signing. Cashman has even given her credit for that signing in the past.
