It wasn't a good day for Yankees pitchers, and in particular, starter CC Sabathia. The big lefty got knocked around for 5 runs on 7 hits, including a three-run homer by Garrett Jones, in just 2.1 innings pitched. I could pretend I care, but I don't. CC will be fine, and he's not worried. Here's some quotes from CC via Mark Feinsand:

“[The fans] know what I can do,” Sabathia said. “Last year, I think everybody was panicking. This year, it’s a little easier to concentrate on getting my delivery right and not having to care so much about results. … You don’t have to come in here and be perfect or worry about what people are saying.”

"I always say results don’t matter - until you get out there and give up eight runs in two innings to the Pirates," he said. "I’ll try to do better next time."

After trailing 4-0 and 6-3, the Yankees did eventually come back to take a 7-6 lead with the help of two solo home runs by Nick Johnson.... I guess his back is feeling OK.

Jon Weber, who is having a great spring with a .700 average, also pitched in with two hits and two RBI. Jorge Posada also had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-2 with an RBI. Nick Swisher and Derek Jeter also had RBI in the game.

Curtis Granderson picked up his first hit as a Yankee, going 1-for-3.

But like I said, it wasn't a good day for Yankee pitching. Dustin Moseley allowed a run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings pitched. Then, with the Yankees ahead Boone Logan gave up 2 runs on 2 hits and a walk in an inning and a third. Hector Noesi follow that up by allowing a three-run inning that put the game away for the Pirates.

It wasn't all bad, though. Royce Ring threw a scoreless inning, Romulo Sanchez held the Pirates off the board for an inning and a third, and Jeremy Bleich did not allow a run in his third of an inning.
