WP: B. Berges (3-0)
LP: A. Aceves (1-2)
Not much to say about this stinker. Alfredo Aceves got knocked around for five earned runs on six hits and two walks in just two innings. One of the big hits was a two-run homer off the bat of Adam Jones. This was his second bad outing in a row after starting the spring so well. It's not too big a deal, but you hope it doesn't continue. There's only so much time left to get ready for opening night.
The bullpen today was pretty solid. Boone Logan had another nice outing and did not allow a hit in his inning of work. He did allow allow an unearned run thanks to a Robinson Cano throwing error. Also fighting for that last bullpen spot is Sergio Mitre, he allowed a run on two hits and a walk in two innings. Chan Ho Park allowed just two hits and struck out two in two scoreless. And David Robertson added a scoreless inning of his own, allowing a hit, a walk, and striking out one.
Five hits was all the Yankees offense could muster up today against the O's. Three of those hits came courtesy of Randy Winn, who went 3-for-3 with a double. Derek Jeter (1-for-3) and Ramiro Pena (1-for-1) picked up the two other hits for the Yanks.
Marcus Thames, who is favored to land that final bench spot, went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts to lower his spring batting average to .094.
