Alex Rodriguez arrived in camp with the Yankees on Friday, saying that there had been no meeting with federal agents in regard to their investigation of a Canadian doctor in a drug case.
Rodriguez was vague with his responses during a two-minute exchange with reporters, saying that he "can't say" if he was in Buffalo, N.Y., on Friday but stating that he spent the previous evening at home in Tampa.
"Here's what I can tell you. Nothing has changed," Rodriguez said. "We're going to continue to work together, we're going to cooperate, and we're going to talk to the feds and Major League Baseball shortly."
Rodriguez said that the meeting did not take place on Friday.
"No one said that," Rodriguez said. "You're not supposed to believe everything you read."
Asked when the meeting would take place, he replied, "They're working on it," adding that no one from his camp is delaying the meeting.
"I don't think anyone is to blame here," he said. "I think we all have the same goal in mind. It's to cooperate with both parties, and we're going to move forward, and we'll be fine."
"Whether I talk to them today or next week, it will be done. And hopefully it will be done before Opening Day, and we can move on."I was hoping the meeting would take place today just so A-Rod could get it over with, but I guess it'll have to wait. Hopefully this gets done soon.
In the meantime, he's in the lineup tonight and if you're looking for the game thread it can be found here.
