Joel Sherman reported that this would be the case a few weeks ago, but today Joe Girardi made it official and named Curtis Granderson the team's starting center fielder. Girardi told the AP that both players "did a very nice job at both spots", but the Yankees went with Granderson because they wanted to "Try not to move him around and put him in one spot." Apparently they still have concerns about Gardner holding down that spot in the lineup.
