Game 18: Yanks @ O's

Regular Season Game 18
Yankees (9-8) vs. Orioles (9-7)
Oriole Park at Camden Yards - Baltimore, MD
Game Time: 7:05 p.m.
TV: YES - MLB.TV | Radio: WCBS 880 - XM Radio

Here are the lineups:

YANKEES

Johnny Damon LF
Derek Jeter SS
Bobby Abreu RF
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Hideki Matsui DH
Robinson Cano 2B
Jason Giambi 1B
Melky Cabrera CF
Chad Moeller C

Phil Hughes RHP (0-2, 9.00 ERA)

ORIOLES
Brian Roberts 2B
Melvin Mora 3B
Nick Markakis RF
Kevin Millar 1B
Luke Scott LF
Aubrey Huff DH
Adam Jones CF
Ramon Hernandez C
Luis Hernandez SS

Daniel Cabrera RHP (0-0, 5.94 ERA)

Notes: Peter Abraham is reporting that Edwar Ramirez is in the Yankees clubhouse, and Jonathan Albaladejo had been optioned to AAA. Scott Patterson gets screwed again. Ramirez has been lights out in AAA, but he was last year too and he ended up with an 8.14 ERA in the majors. They should have given Patterson a chance. ... This is an important start for Hughes, he needs a decent start to restore his confidence in himself, and save the Yankees bullpen. It would be great if he could give them 6+ solid innings.

Stop playing this stupid bum. Not only is he not hitting but he's one of the worst defensive first baseman in the league.

And he proved it again on that play.

Hey Patrick,

Yes, that was a pretty awful play, as should be expected from him.

I'm just glad it didn't cost the Yankees.

That inside pitch to Giambi that was called a strike has been a ball all night for Hughes.

Giambi is really pissing me off. Another wasted AB... he's missing hittable pitches.

Yes it has been anonymous.

Hahahah nice job Mora. Thanks for the freebie.

when melky and chad moeller start hitting well you know the yanks are in decent shape. i always get nervous in the bottom of the order

Greg Cohen said...

Well with Posada and Molina coming back soon Moeller will be gone, and don't be surprised if Melky has a very good year. His swing has looked very good so far this season.

Jon Bachrach said...

yea hes been surprising. he's like the underrated player that everyone roots for.

Greg Cohen said...

Yep, plus as I'm sure you know, Yankees fans love home-grown Yankees. And obviously Melky is one.

Yea Melky is great. You gotta love guys that come up through the system.

giambi needs a motivational speaker before every game

Jon Bachrach said...

thatll get him going

Jonny

I think Giambi needs to retire.

Greg Cohen said...

At least he drew the walk.

Anonymous said...

Yea that's true, but he should still retire.

Jon Bachrach said...

melky needs a bit more patience that last pitch was way inside and he swung for the fences

Anonymous said...

It was a pretty good curve ball Jonny.

Jon Bachrach said...

maybe it was

Anonymous said...

Don't get me wrong, he did overswing a bit, but it was a good pitch.

Greg Cohen said...

Wow that was a terrible play by A-Rod. Damn it Alex.
