The Yankees were able to complete their first sweep at home this season with an 8-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners today at Yankee Stadium. Darrell Rasner started for the Yanks and had a shaky first inning when he allowed a 2-run homer off the bat of Adrian Beltre. But after that he allowed no runs and just 3 hits over the next five to get his first win of the year. Two things that really impressed me with Rasner today was that he remained calm after giving up the HR, and didn't walk a batter on the day.
The Bullpen did their job again today as Ross Ohlendorf, Kyle Farnsworth and Mariano Rivera each threw scoreless innings to close out the win. Rivera has now thrown 13 innings this season, and allowed no runs on only 4 hits, walked none and struck out 12.

MARINERS PITCHING
The Yankees offense pounded out 8 runs on 14 hits today, and they were again led by the top of their order. Johnny Damon, Derek Jeter, Bobby Abreu, and Hideki Matsui combined to go 11-for-18 with 4 RBI and 6 runs scored. Melky Cabrera added a 2-run homer in the 3rd, which gave the Yankees a 5-2 lead at the time, he was followed by Robinson Cano who then hit a solo HR to extend the lead to 6-2. Hopefully this gives him a little confidence at the plate and maybe he can start hitting. All 8 Yankees runs came against Mariners' starter Carlos Silva
who did not pitch well.
