Angels GM Tony Reagins said the reports from last week that the Angels were switching their attention from Mark Teixeira to CC Sabathia were not true. "There was nothing to" those reports he said. He also doesn't think the Angels will make any moves before next week's Winter Meetings.
Because of the story above as well as the poor economy the NY Post's Joel Sherman and George A. King III believe that the Yankees are the only horse in the Sabathia race. King also said that CC's wife Amber wants him to play for the SF Giants, but that the Giants don't have the money to compete with the Yankees offer.
Sherman thinks Sabathia will be a Yankee by next week.

They can't do that. There are other teams that are interested - Dodgers, Giants, and Angels. The only reason these teams are staying away is because of the Yankees huge offer. If the Yankees lower their offer to lets say $120 for 6 years, then the Dodgers or Giants can come in a offer $110-$115 for six and then CC will sign with them.

Any thoughts on Garrett Atkins? I haven't seen his name connected with the Bombers, but he could be the first basemen we're looking for and will come a HELL of a lot cheaper then Tex. Plus he could also play 3B as well if needed. As gaudy as Tex's numbers are, he's a compiler (kinda like A-Rod). For the dollars he's gonna get, he should strike fear into opposing pitchers, and he just doesn't do that. Let him go to Boston and have them make the same mistake the Yanks have made for years now, with the emphasis on buying the best new car on the lot that year, be it a Yugo or a Porsche.

Anyway, regarding Atkins, I don't believe he's a free agent, so they would have to trade for him. To me it makes more sense to just spend the money on the better player instead of giving up talent for the lesser player.
