Save The Gate Meet Up

Here's some more info on the Save Gate 2 project. On June 30th members of the group behind the plan will be meeting with fans outside Yankee Stadium to promote the idea, talk baseball, etc. Here's what Richard Lillard had to say about the meeting on a post over at Baseball-Fever.com:

On June 30th, a few members of this board, as well as few other fine people who have been working on "Save the Yankee Gate 2" efforts will be meeting at the Stadium, in front of the original Gate 2

We invite you to come down and talk baseball, the history and the future. Most of all, we could use anyone and everyone's support to try and save Gate 2!!

The Yanks are playing the Mariners that night so if you're headed to that game go over by the old gate 2 and show your support.

Here's a video created by Rick Kaplan that shows a 3D animation of what the Heritage Park will look like with the gate still standing. Kaplan did a great job on the vid.


There's also this bit of info from Joe over at Demolition of Yankee Stadium dot com.

We were contacted today by Michele Lignore-Diaz who is the project manager of the redevelopment project. There will be a “Yankee Stadium Park Redevelopment Program Community Briefing” held on Wednesday June 24th at 6pm. The briefing will take place at 198 E. 161st Street on the 3rd floor.

This is open to the general public and there will be an overview of all stadium projects, including the old Yankee Stadium deconstruction. There will be a question and answer period at the end of the presentation.

Very interesting. All fans near by who want their voices heard should definitely attend.
