- A.J. Burnett has made three career starts against his old team and is 2-1, with a 3.04 ERA. But in two starts against them this year he's 1-1, with a 4.30 ERA.
- In one start against the Yanks - on 7/6 in the Bronx - Ricky Romero is 1-0 with a 4.26 ERA. In 6.1 innings he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, walked 3 and struck out 5.
- The Yankees are 24-14 against left-handed starters this season. They lead baseball with a .297 average against lefties. Derek Jeter leads the majors with a .432 average vs. lefties.
- The Yanks have won 32 of their last 42, and are 5.5 games ahead of Boston in the AL East. And at 70-43 they have the best record in all of baseball.
- Since losing two out of three to the Nationals from June 16-18, the Yankees are 19-4 at home. Overall they're 40-18 in the Bronx which is the best home record in the game.

UPDATE: 2:05 p.m.: Derek Jeter was hit by a Ricky Romero pitch on his right foot in the first, tried to play through it, but left the game in the top of the third. More info to come.
UPDATE: 2:22 p.m.: They just announced during the broadcast that Jeter has a contusion on his right foot and is headed for x-rays.
UPDATE: 3:00 p.m.: X-rays on Jeter’s foot came back negative and he's listed as day-to-day.

Another run due to Posada's horrid defense. Nothing new here. He ruins are first inning with a terrible AB, makes it worse by not running hard out of the box and then BAM, his defense costs us again. What a horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE catcher.

Burnett threw a fastball by Jorge called a breaking ball. The only one I blame Posada for is the ball that went past him that scored the third run. Besides that, Burnett has been all over the place.
The momentum is completely in the Jays favor. The bullpen is going to have to come up big today. Again.

I was at the game today and had a great time. It sure looked like one of those days where things just weren't going the Yanks way. But I was convinced that they would win. Of course I was also convinced that Tex would come into the game late as a pinch hitter and win the game for us.
Well that didn't happen but Cano got the job done.
Man I love going to the Stadium. My next game isn't until 8/27 when I bring my 2 year old to his first game!
