Here's another look at how some former Yankees are doing with their new teams:
Melky Cabrera, Braves
.267/.328/.375, .308 wOBA, 4 HR, 6 SB, 91 wRC+, 0.0 WAR
Johnny Damon, Tigers
.274 .360 .414, .347 wOBA, 7 HR, 7 SB, 116 wRC+, 1.6 WAR
Jerry Hairston, Padres
.256 .310 .376, .300 wOBA, 10 HR, 8 SB, 93 wRC+, 2.1 WAR
Eric Hinske, Braves
.256 .338 .467, .344 wOBA, 9 HR, 0 SB, 115 wRC+, 0.9 WAR
Austin Jackson, Tigers
.304 .354 .405, .342 wOBA, 1 HR, 16 SB, 112 wRC+, 2.3 WAR
Hideki Matsui, Angels
.243 .325 .399, .318 wOBA, 14 HR, 0 SB, 97 wRC+, 0.0 WAR
Xavier Nady, Cubs
.229 .299 .349, .291 wOBA, 4 HR, 0 SB, 75 wRC+, -0,5 WAR
Jose Tabata, Pirates
.298 .347 .387, .330 wOBA, 2 HR, 12 SB, 105 wRC+, 1.1 WAR
Tyler Clippard, Nationals
3.27 ERA, 3.33 FIP, 4.18 xFIP, 10.4 K/9, 4.4 BB/9, 66.0 IP, 1.0 WAR
Phil Coke, Tigers
2.68 ERA, 2.91 FIP, 4.32 xFIP, 7.9 K/9, 3.5 BB/9, 47.0 IP, 1.0 WAR
Ian Kennedy, Diamondbacks
4.47 ERA, 4.93 FIP, 4.52 xFIP, 7.6 K/9, 3.5 BB/9, 139.0 IP, 1.0 WAR
Ross Ohlendorf, Pirates
3.95 ERA, 4.46 FIP, 5.02 xFIP, 6.6 K/9, 3.7 BB/9, 100.1 IP, 0.9 WAR
Carl Pavano, Twins
3.27 ERA, 3.71 FIP, 3.94 xFIP, 5.2 K/9, 1.6 BB/9, 168.0 IP, 3.0 WAR
For what it's worth, Granderson, Gardner, and Thames have combined for 5.3 WAR - the players they 'replaced,' being Damon, Hinske, and Jackson, have combined for 4.8 WAR. Sure, it's not an exact science, and Jackson's probably better than Granderson going forward ... but I can't really knock Brian Cashman's offseason moves at the juncture.
I'm also very interested in Tabata's progress. While his numbers aren't outstanding by any stretch, his peripherals suggest that his performance is for real - meaning that he's been at least as good as Austin Jackson, whose peripherals suggest a regression to the mean.
